I promise you it is a head gasket, as much as I don't want to. The symptoms of the heat and the temp all points to it. The dealership will probobly tell you the same thing. SOrry to be the bringer of bad news. Thats a sweet looking ebony though good luck with it.
Tom(Now I know why you got such a good deal) P.S. Do me a favor and look underneath the oil filler cap. Is there a white or yellowish gooey substance? |

I am soooooooooo relieved. I just got a call from Subaru dealership. Its the water pump, and its siezed. So far the water pump and timing belt needs to be changed. As for the timing belt the siezed water pump ripped small pieces of it. So i am so happy....... WOOOOO HOOOOO!

Surprising. I guess your pump didn't seize fully. Lucky! That is one sweet exterior.
Anyways, take off your crank pulley and clean the crank shaft. When my wp seized I only drove it like a 1/4 mile but oil or something baked onto it an I didn't realize it til 2 years later when I was doing some front end work. e: Er, by crank pulley I mean the one in the timing case. Also make sure they cleaned your other timing pulleys and there is no baked t belt rubber on them.

Ahhhh what a relief. Me and my dad took the whole day to put the water pump on along with a new timing belt. It was pretty easy basic common sence and wa-lah done. It runs like a champ. Soon as i get paid i am changing the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, tranny fluid, replacing brakes front and rear, air filter, tires, PCV vavle, spark plugs, and adding a tranny cooler. Couple ???'s
How many quarts of oil? How many quarts of tranny fluid? Whats the best oil to use on these car? BTW cars has 85,XXX miles. What type of spark plugs. LOW BUDGET. Well One more ? i know my wheels are on backwards, which way is the right way. Thanks. |

I have always used castrol GTX until Syntec Blend came out, I now use Syntec blend for all my cars. Don't use Quacker State unless you want to live with the smell. |

I personally use synthetic as we can see +40°C and -40°C throughout the year. I also like how it pours when it's cold compared to conventional oil. As for plugs, don't cheap out. Get NGK PFR6B-11's because after you change the plugs once you probably won't want to change them for a long while.
