Google highlighted stuff, but I especially like how the search box is docked in MF. I am really digging the tabbed browsing, especially with a three button mouse.
....Especially good for looking at ...certain..ummm...picture sites.

Open Firefox 1.0 and type about:config in the address bar.
1. Find network.http.pipelining and double click on it so it = true.
2. Find network.http.pipelining.maxrequests double click on it and change it from 4 to 8.

1. This enables option #2.
2. This makes FF use 8 threads to each page.. Basically, if you thought FF was fast before, try it after this.
3. Go to the blacksmith and get new shoes.

i love it and im useing it right not. the security is tight as..... well its preaty tight. and i find it more user friendly to bad microsoft is dependent on the outdated IE i have a feeling that after a few security updates we wont be able to use outside browsers. and yes the reply box is narrow and the blinky corser is to close to the letter you just typed but other than that i like it

Am I a fool? Why can't I get this to work.

When I type "about :config" I get a page with a bunch of little lines that aren't readable. What's up?

If you are a Mac user I highly suggest Camino, which uses the Mozilla rendering engine but is a little more elegant as OS X apps go, and is a little faster at page rendering.

http://www.mozilla.org/projects/camino/

Firefox is also great but it doesn't keyboard jump in pulldown menus, and I deal with those darned things all day.

fwiw...

I've been using NetScape for many years, but I started using FireFox since 10-09-2004 @ 11:27 PM. NetScape takes forever to load the first time. FireFox also takes forever, minus one day. Both support "Tabbed Browsing," which is the primary appeal to me. Both Mozilla-based engines are resistant to annoying scripts, but they also frequently work with some sites when IExplore does not. I use IE and Mozilla about equally. I suspect that's probably rare for anyone to do, but I still prefer IE for general browsing. Unless I'm going to be opening a lot of windows or screwing with the page source, IE is faster even if it doesn't work better otherwise.

I don't think anyone has mentioned here yet that Firefox is extensible, and already there are quite a few nice extensions:

This can be done for IE as well but it involved updating your registry.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings]
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=dword:00000010
"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=dword:00000010

The value is up to you. I have mine set to 10h (16).

Used that tweak on my Netscape 7.2 and it really does work. I'm quite impressed.
