Another small request
Well, Christmas is almost here. There will be an official holiday greeting placed on the board a bit later, but I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. As a small request, I would like to ask the people here to take a small moment to thank some of the people that help keep this server alive, yet dont see the results of the time and work they provide. We all know that I run this server and I get plenty of assistance from Aredubjay and sith. We also get donations from people to buy replacement parts like power supplies and such. Lets not forget mohrds who donated some very expensive external drive boxes with cables. But all these people hear from other members the appreciation and support that goes with it. Now I ask for a little thanks for the people that will not see it. They are not members here, but do help things from the backside. If you have a moment to write them a thanks and Happy Holidays note, I am sure they will appreciate it as much as you guys appreciate having this server.
Travis Burnside: (owner of http://www.qwk.net) Donated five new 9 gig seagate drives for our upgrade. Also was the generous provider of bandwidth in our start from March thru August. Send mail to: travis@qwk.net Jim Waldon (senior systems administrator for http://www.fiberpipe.com) Donated many hours to the upkeep of the system including router work, security, configuration, the seamless and touble free server move, and the lead supervisor for the soon to come upgrades. Send Jim an holiday greeting by sending email to: waldon@subaru-svx.net I will route all this email to him in one big holiday package. Mark Messenger (information technology administrator for http://www.directv.com) Mark has also helped in the operations of the SVX server. Although mostly in the financial department, he has also provided support for the server move, technical assistance, and motvation when I just wanted to give up. Send mail to: whizzmo@subaru-svx.net I just thought I would let everyone know more about the hidden side of this functional network. Happy Holidays!

Sadly, I cannot email my thanks to the people listed above - I left my account up in MI.
Chris, thank you for all the hard work and dedication. Without you, we'd all have to go back to Yahoo. That'd be a crying shame. Thanks for giving us something that feels so much more like a permanent home. I will send my thanks to the others when I get home on the 1st.

A big Thank You
Chris,
Let me join the guys in saying thanks, both to yourself, and also to the unsung heroes, Travis, Jim and Mark. This Network would be about as useful and as stable as a spiderweb in a hurricane without the help of real professionals and dedicated club people. Take a bow, and if you guys are ever in the same bar as me, keep your hands in your pockets. {That includes Ireland, don't set foot on this Ould Sod without looking me up, my details are in my locker.} Happy Christmas to youse tech-heads Joe

I've sent my thanks to all who are mentioned above, but, mere words cannot express my gratitude. Everyone involved is operating above and beyond the normal call of duty.
I would also like to take an opportunity to commend sith on his diligence in keeping up with updating the Yahoo Archive files. If you haven't had to go there for a while, when you do visit, you'll notice that quietly, stealthily, sith has continued to update it. Many thanks Colin (sith) for your diligence. In a society where people are so unwilling to do the slightest thing without recognition, I am sincerly humbled by the people involved with this network who are willing to work behind the scenes to keep things going and yet, remain anonymous or work in the background without fanfare. A "thank you" doesn't really say enough, yet, we're thankful that you consider it sufficient.

I don't think I can express myself any better than Randy already has, so I will just add my voice to those saying thanks to everyone involved in keeping this network looking good and running smooth. Great job! Don
