hello again guys.
for comparinson,i was wondering if any one could get me the dimensions for the manual tranny,or let me know if they are close to the 4EAT tranny, the only dimensions im realy conserned right now are the, full leng of the tranny with the bell housing, and from the bell housing to the center of the drive axles. that would help me on the debate i have now, manual trannys are always fun, but if i cant fit it, ill stick with the auto. thanks again guys. |

the distance from the mating surface of the bellhousing/engine to the axle is the same for manual and automatic. The overall manual tranmsission is 2" shorter for the AWD versions (assume a similar shorter length for a FWD-only version). The mounting face to the engine is the same as on the auto transaxle - that's why the auto to manual conversion has been possible (without major mods).

Worst problem with doing a manual, is the ****er linkage sticks straight out the back, and isn't set up for a cable set-up....so it'd be a real PITA to rig up the shifter on the manual Subaru in a rear engine car....just a heads up...

4EAT
I have a 4EAT, SVX model that will be meandering it's way to E-bay here in the next few days. I need to weigh it so I can make a speculation on shipping before it goes out. Boric isn't wrong, the SVX model is geared tall. Going in a light car like a Fiero though... I think that might be the route I'd go... hello 160MPH.
I'll let you know when it goes out there. I also have the TCU for it. |

You're looking at around 250lb for an AWD SVX 4EAT.

actually i find the 3.70 gears very efficient and works very well w/ the fwd. Running at 60 mph @2250 rpms is not bad at all. Also, running best 1/4mile times @15.9 bone stock w/ bad bearings is better than most svxers can say, i find very little wrong w/ this gearing.
