DRW, not OT
Ron,
Am I correct in thinking DRW have done some work on your box[tranny], put in a quick-shift kit for you? I mailed the site to tell them the red car on the SVX page had the wheels on wrong, a left wheel was on the right back quarter. Don Wang mailed back, thanked me, and said others noticed it before, he had passed the info on to the owner. My own transmission is working fine, I am just getting used to how it goes and what it can do. I am awaiting a B&W cooler in the mail. When it arrives, I will have the car back to the shop for fitting, plus fit an external filter, plus change the oil to Mobil 1 fully synthetic. I have not been successful in finding Redline Hi-Temp ATF here. The car is more economical with all gears working, I am now able to go over 400kms on a tank. With the stop-start city driving I do, I am getting 22mpg. Remember though, our gallons are bigger, so this is not a marvellous gain. It will probably do closer to 30 on a long run, it is at motorway speed in top for a meagre 2500 rpm, and runs very easily on that. I am still disappointed that it is difficult to achieve strong acceleration without full-bore kick-down and hard carpet mashing. Arthur in the UK club, who also has a very quick Renault Alpine A610, reckons this is caused by the computer learning habits. If you drive smoothly and gently all the time, the TCU learns this behaviour, and presumes you would not want the "roughness" of a 2 gear shift down to pass something. I will continue to watch and learn. Perhaps I will need a nitrous kit like Ron's. In my book, there is no harm in cruisers also being bruisers. Joe

<Ladies and gentlemen, we apologize for the careening from the original topic that has ensued. We now return you to the "First Australian Drive Day" thread originally scheduled for this spot.>
Oops....I'm sorry officer. I was so intent on observing the stars that I guess I just kinda careened back there. It won't happen again, I promise. ....but Officer Aredub, did you know that the constellation "Southern Cross" is best observed in the still air of the Australian Outback? ....why are you writing in your little notebook Officer?
