Me wants! The seller is John Rowe (subarusvx.com). I can't believe he only has ONE! He's the fellow who put up the out of pocket expense to have the model created, compiled pix and the first 150K Yahoo posts on once CD as well as the TSB's. Surely he knows he could sell those like hotcakes here on the Network. Gollly!

Looks like I am the owner of a SVX DVD. I thought he would have burned more of them and sold them for $22.00 each.

I have three of the five videos anyway but it is nice to have them in a DVD format. (Goes nicely with my R&T Guide to the SVX on CD-ROM)

Oh, and for those of you who've never experienced a meet, be sure and go to John's site and check out the Quicktime video he put together, of the "Springtime in the Smokies" meet, a few years ago. It very much captures the "meet" essence. It's not on the scale of a Tenth Anniversary, or a Reading (but sometimes the smaller meets are cozier ), but it shows what getting together with your fellow SVXers is all about.

For those of you using Internet Explorer, check out John Rowe's new picture gallery at http://www.subarusvx.com/new/pictures.php?ind=0&l=21kss

Uses our factory radio as a navigating tool...Really a slick job! You can view cars by color, mods, interior, wheels, etc.

It's nice no one minds that these DVD's are basically illegal?

I'm surprised E-bay even allowed the auction!

I'm not against it myself but just pointing out the obvious.

He would have to be making a lot of money on each DVD considering blank DVD's must be <$1 each by now. I'm sure the shipping can't be that much either.

I think I should sell copies of the Reading 4 video I eventually make!

Earthworm,

If you want to get technical, I am breaking copyright laws. But it's not like I'm selling copies of "The Phantom Menace" and taking money out of the pockets of the original producers of these tapes. These are videos that were never sold in the first place.

As far as profits go, add up the cost of the DVD ($2.50 not <$1), shipping, shipping materials, DVD case, printed DVD insert, printed DVD label, eBay listing fee and you've got $9.75. Add to that the cost of the videos, the cost of the DVD burning software, the cost of the video trimming application I had to buy and that comes to $223. Add to that the time I've spent creating it (over 20 hours) and the time it takes to burn, print, label each DVD, and drive to the post office and you get me still LOSING MONEY if I sell 20 DVDs at $22.

I will probably not make a profit on this and I am offended that you so quickly jumped to the conclusion that I am "making a lot of money". So far I yet to see a profit on the SVX models I had made; so far I have yet to see a profit on the original vinyl Subaru-SVX.net decals for this site; so far I have yet to see a profit on the SVX reproduction hats; and so far I have yet to see a profit on the SVX DVDs.

This was just an idea I've had since August when I got my new computer that was capable of burning DVDs. I thought the SVX community would appreciate it. I realize that these accusations are probably not representative of the majority of members here but this type of response is very discouraging at a time when I'm considering getting back into the SVX scene.

PS: Because of this I've just decided to scrap my plans for a line of SVX salad dressings.

don't mind him, i'd like a copy.
do they actually have a copyright on them? i'm sure at least one of the videos can be considered an "advertisement", and distributing "advertising" for a car that is no longer in production isn't hurting anybody.

Hey John. Nice to see you back in existance. We met at the Oak Ridge gathering two years ago. Regarding the models - I was one of the early orders that you had to abandon. I saw the eBay thing. I assumed you were cleaning house. BUT...if you have any unassembled SVXes left, PM me. I, for one, have nothing against capitalism!
Welcome back.

Ron.

John -

I would like to try your salad dressing! Does it have the SVX Logo on the bottle? That would be a real collectors item. Foget the coffee mugs!

I apologize if my post offended you...that was definately not the intent.

I have not seen the product you are offering so I was unsure the amount of effort put into this package. If someone was really lazy they could just burn the DVD, throw it into an envelope and mail it. You have shown that you have put much effort into this project.

The reason I figured <$1 per DVD is that I've found them here in Canada for $2 each and almost everything computer related is less than half the price as soon as you cross the border.

NOOOO!!!!

In fact, if I could get one of these DVD's from you (and even a model depending on availability) without going through e-bay I'll take you up on the offer.
