removal of fixed rear side glass

Can anyone tell me or direct me to information on how to remove the FIXED. REAR SIDE GLASS. Not the movable side windows but the rear FIXED section of glass that goes along the roof line and down the back side by the rear window.I need to replace my passenger side window and am having difficulty locating a replacement window but a forum member nearby has one but doesn't know how to remove it and neither do I.

Re: removal of fixed rear side glass

They are held on by a combination of a thick black adhesive substance and velcro like fastners strips. I took a set out using a hook knife and a utility knife but it was a real pain. I talked to another member about it once and he told me it was much easier to use a wire tool. I am guessing something like this.

That's a very cool little kit. Inexpensive too.

Re: removal of fixed rear side glass

That's what I used to pull mine. Just be careful as the wire gets too close to the body, stopping any progress. Two people working it is nice too! Cut mine out by myself and it about kicked my arse!

Re: removal of fixed rear side glass

The door and rear fixed glass are a piece of cake with one person and piano wire. Typically takes less than 5 min for those. The windshield or rear glass however, 2 people are almost a necessity.

Trunk release/gas release cable works okay too, just doesn't "cut" as well.

Re: removal of fixed rear side glass

Thanks for all the info. I think I'll stop by Harbor Freight and pick up one of the tools. Something I won't use more than once (I hope) but it's not that expensive and should make things easier than just wire.
