My best friend in high school had a Vega (not a Cosworth Vega) and he beat it to death, and it kept on going...even rolled it....pushed it back onto its wheels and kept driving it (just broke one door window)....

I picked one up on the rack and the windshield fell out, onto the steering wheel. Cowl rust was very common for Vega.
It was a lot of fun explaining that to the customer...

I'm still having a hard time believing any Vega will evAr be a collectible ...that is unless Franklin Mint starts selling them.

HEE HAW!!! HEE HAW!!! (this coming from a sprite who grew up in the back of a puke green Pontiac Astro wagon (Vega clone for the younger sprites) who to this day can't decide which was worse... The Super beetle or the Vega. Oh well, I won't ride in either make.

We had another one come in (same shop, back in the '70s) complaining of poor acceleration, mpg and braking. It was a wagon, I think they even tagged it 'Greenbriar', obviously Chevy was trying to trade on the good name of a past success, Corvair. Anyway, during the initial test drive, it was a pure mutt. No go-go (0-60 = dawn-to-dusk) and while trying to brake hard I mashed the pedal as hard as I could. All of a sudden I could hear some rushing noise and then my feet and legs were submersed in water. Apparently it had a water leak that had been collecting in the rear floor for some time and the hard braking sent it spilling forward, out and over the rear floor. Getting out of the car back at the shop was reminiscent of the 928 in 'Risky Business'. And people wonder why I love GM so much.

Well if in a few yrs I lose any $ on it, Ill let you know
and if I make $ on it, Ill let you know that too. The car has too many positive points to ever not be collectable, and Ive never lost $ on car I yet that I bought as an investment

I hope you don't think I'm cracking on your purchase, I'm all in favor for everyone getting what they want. To be honest, back when they came out I thought it was cool that they actually tried to make something better.
