Help me out here...
Well I am trying to figure out what I need for the SVX.
The car is bucking at around 1200 RPM on all forward gears. It helps a little when I pull the resistor behind the battery and give the tranny a full line pressure. Doug gave me an idea of trying the AWD fuse. I did that and the bucking RPM shifts from 1200-800 range to 1000-800 range. Diff fluid is a little low but not dry. The tranny fluid is red and smells fine (and trust me, after the money pit, I know how the burnt tranny smells like). What do you all think? Doug, feel free to drop any notes I may have missed as well. The engine is fine if it is in N or P. So I don't think it's the TPS or O2 sensors or Fuel Injectors but it comes back to the tranny again. Lwin ps. where are the boys with 5 speed switch? Can I borrow/buy/have your TCU to see if my TCU is going south? Another thing: can a 92 TCU go into a 94 Tranny?

Maybe not much help.
My Alldata CD says TCU, solenoid B, lockup damper or lockup facing - not sure but the last two might vary depending on cold/warm condition of fluid. Hope this gives you some ideas. |

Same regardless of the fluid condition. In another word, same crap when it is cold, same crap when it is hot.

I don't think it would be lockup related if it happens in all forward gears.
My 92 SVX has a 94 tranny and I'm willing to bet it still has the 92 TCU. p.s. need a ride to Reading?

Engine problem
Lwin
I think you are looking in the wrong place. It may not be tranny related at all. I currently have a similar problem with Ann's Honda. My problem is caused by the Idler Air Control valve or circuit. The IAC valve [aka EACV] bolted to the side of the inlet manifold is electrically controlled, the ECU tells it to open or close depending on conditions relayed by various sensors, including the TPS, MAP, inlet air temp, speed etc. It is apparently magnetically activated, and sticks in older cars. If the valve is gone wonky, it should set a code, being electric. However, it is more complicated than that, lack of code does not mean you don't have problems in this area. There should also be a water temp controlled valve that affects the amount of air required by the manifold, this would not set a code if faulty. There is the further possibility the IAC valve is showing a code but not itself faulty. In this case you would suspect the wiring to the valve from the ECU, or possibly a faulty relay, which the ECU would be sending trigger voltages to, in order to activate the IAC on demand. Hope this is not too long-winded, but check for engine codes first. Joe

Reading. Between the lines.
Lwin,
If it shows an IAC code, it is not a terminal illness. It only affects low-rev driveability, and probably emissions would not be correct. With the circuit out, the ECU will run a default loop at set values, the car will keep on going. If this is the problem, and you want to drive to Reading, drive it. Keep it in 3 to keep revs up. We are driving the Honda since December because of bad parts availability at Honda. Joe

Does it buck in all gears in the 800 to 1200 rpm range?
In first you get first. Manual button on 94? you get 2nd. That may help help you sort out the engine or tranny. If it's tranny related I am hope'ing for a clogged filter. |

Welcome to my world
It seems I spend a good part of each day cleaning throttle bodies, MAFs and IACs. What Joe said is correct, codes, or lack thereof, don't tell the entire story. With the amount of oil vapor stand-off at the throttle blades the IAC and throttle body both gum up. This causes the IAC to stick and sometimes totally clog. The build-up at the throttle blades can cause the throttle to stick and for the blades to come to rest in a position such that the TPS reports variable values. Before going any further I'd give these a good cleaning. It's cheap and fairly easy, it may also save you some $$.
