whining upon acceleration
When i punch the pedal, there is a whining noise. Under normal acceleration everthing is fine. I don't know if its a belt or what?

Hmmm I guess it could be a squeal. It's kinda hard to explain, I do appreciate the input. Im just hoping its nothing major.

Check all your fluids
transmission and front differential (I'm assuming you've got and AWD variant).

i've also heard that..... a cheap equalizer (yeah you didn't read wrong, equalizer as in stereo equipment equalizer) can cause engine whine...... myth or fact??

Poor shielding or grounding can cause alternator whine through the speakers. It's tied to the engine RPM, but the sound does not originate from the engine compartment like PS whine. There are ofcourse a multitude of other rotational parts on the engine that can also cause whine, though the PS pump has been the more common and most noticeable source in our collective experience.

hmm... so does that mean this problem can be eliminated by using better grounding wire and or better shielding ? (what's shielding??)

Wires are shielded to prevent electronic interference coming from or passing into the wire. If an outside source of interference (like the ignition) passes into the speaker wire you will hear a whine coming from the speakers proportionate to the engine RPM.

subafan---- yes
I have eliminated alot of "whines" with better grounding (stereo equipment). it is best to ground all amps and EQs far away from other ground sources. use a good guage wire with a good insulation, so as not to pick up any interference. You might have to move it around a few times to find the best spot but its worth it. or you can buy a noise filter, but not needed if properly grounded. in my experience

What if you had the car parked in neutral or park and mash the gas?
