Rattling brakes
Well, I have new pads and new rotors, and I installed the shims on both pads...but they still rattle. Yes, they rattle less, but it still makes a noise when I go over bumps (unless I have the brakes on). Anyone know how to stop this?

I have never tried this, but I have heard of people putting some type sticky adhesive on both sides of the shim to hold the pad against the piston/caliper. Sorry, even if it works, don't know where to source either.

You did not say if these are OEM pads or not so I will ask.
Are they OEM pads that come with new shims or are you re-using the old shims? If you buy aftermarket pads, you need to replace the shims at least every other brake job. You can buy shims individually under these part numbers: Qty 4 26233PA030 Qty 2 26233PA050 If ypou look at the drawing: http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=262-A You will see that there are two inboard shims and one outboard shim. Something only just now occured to me. The center caps on my wheels rattled until I bent their brackets outward a little for a tighter fit. Could this possibly be the rattle you're hearing?

I bought some Raybestos BRUTE FORCE pads. They came with TWO shims, so I put on on the outside pad, and one on the inside. So I need another one on the outside? Weird. I recall someone talking about some loose bolt or something that it could be.... but I tightened everythign I could so I doubt that.
