SVX's are soooooo expensive.........
I bought an SVX about two weeks ago and they are amazingly expensive especially for a 17 year old with no job but that is soon to change, hopefully. Only about 2 weeks I have the car and I have to change the rotors, struts and tires. This car drinks gas like a camel who hasn't seen water for days.. but it's all worth it when i am at a red light and there's a civic or integra beside me and in about 4 seconds, they can kiss mah car's ass..I am sure all the money I invest will be worth it...long live the SVX!

I feel you on that one. Im only 17 too, but the way gas prices are going and all the things that Ive done/need to get done, it sure is one expensive ride. But never will I let go of my SVX.

I'm not sure the SVX is the car for you- no offense... I mean... it really isn't that quick at all. If you get lined up next to even an integra GSR (with a good driver), and you're screwed.....
SVXs aren't really the drag racer type. |

Yea, plus its a lot of strain on your transmission. You can probably run them easily from a roll.
But once you get a 5 speed, forget what I said

If you're gonna race do it going up an on-ramp at like 30 mph or while doing 60 mph, thats where the power kicks in the most IMO

Chicane: I don't know what ur talkin about since the integra GSR only has 170 horses while an svx has 230, plus the fact that most cars today are not geared towards racers but it's what u do to it to make it perform. I have heard of a 1000 HP drag civic, I am sure Honda did not have this in mind when they were creating Civics...
Acura Integra GS-R Sedan (MSRP: $23,080.00) Engines: 1.8-liter 4 cylinder 16 Valve DOHC Horsepower: 170hp @ 7600RPM Torque: 128lb-ft. @ 6200RPM Transmissions: 5-Speed Manual Overdrive Drive Train: Front Wheel Drive Tires: P195/55VR15 Fuel Economy(City/Highway): 25/30 miles per gallon (Manual) Range (City/Highway): 332/413 with full tank (Manual) Warranty: 48 months/50,000 miles. Wouldn't a heavy duty transmission cooler do the job well? Last edited by CARLiTO_; 03-11-2003 at 08:40 PM. |

it's all about two things:
WHEEL horsepower and horsepower-to-weight ratio -adam EDIT: it might be a little more about torque-to-weight than horsepower-to-weight |

I dont see why you guys insist on drag racing the svx. Its not built to race. This tranny cant handle it. I thought some of you knew that by now. I know at 17, you teens feel like you have a need to show other teens that your ride is faster than theirs. But, why? Not only are you wasting your gas for nothin, but your causing so much wear to your tranny.LOL, this reminds of how every time I get a civic or neon or accord, they always try to race me. I go with it, I rev up my engine and when it hits green. I just let them speed away. I'm not about to pay 3000 to rebuild my tranny, cuz some loser wants to see how fast my car is. Its not like your gonna get a trophy if you win, lol. Come guys, do you really think its worth it?
