The idiot called me back and explained to me that repacking the bearing with synthetic grease is standard practice. I love how they tell me one thing and then another. Oh well, at least it should get fixed properly this time. Thanks for everyone's concern.

Finally got her back today. The guy at the counter, who I also assmume is the shop manager, informed me that the mechanic is "paying big time" for the screw up. Been without it two days and it feels so good to have it back.
