I've had it

if one more thing goes wrong with this car...it is gone...i am sick and tired of worrying about whether my car is realiable or not...i need my car...i can't have it tied up in the shop all day...one bearing went...then another...why can't they go at the same time...is this car just pulling this stuff to annoy me???? girls are such darn PITAs...even when they are cars...i know how you men feel...nothing is ever good enough for her....whine whine...litterally there is always a sound or a vibration...i just can't take it...i have never had this much problem with a used car in my entire life...my mom's old beat to sh!t chevy celebrity did better then this car and she didn't change the oil ever in the the 4 years she had it...just kept adding on...then she traded it in on a new car...i take the best care of this car and all it does is sh!t on me...i love it to death, but if anyone...even my best friend gave me this much grief, i wouldn't be friends with her anymore...this sucks...

Kelli

Hey there...

So your bearing gone south without telling ya? My advice is to change them together. Normally when one goes, the other will as well. Just me. Keep the car till Reading... ok?

Well, I got rid of one girfriend to get another one (which just happen to be my car).

Eventually you'll learn that a good relationship with a women takes a lot of work.

The ones you don't care about stick around forever, the ones you do care about are nothing but trouble on the mind and pocketbook

A woman is like a carburetor. If you don't make constant, minor adjustments, she'll choke you to death.

Kelli-

The only reason you're posing this is because you want people to tell you not to get rid of it. You know that right? Dont get rid of it.

Of course you dont have a cursed SVX, Kelli... that's just silly. Yes, I've felt this way about my SVX in the past. I almost sold it once. I'm glad I didnt, and I wont think of doing that again.

it isn't about the money...the warr makes major repairs..like oil changes....and even if i do spend a couple hundred dollars here and there...no big deal...it is a used car with a heck of a lot of miles..for me at least..i take good care of her...i don't like having to throw her to a shop and take a mechanics advice of whether it is safe to drive or not..that just isn't Kosher..

i guess i am just frustrated...i'll go to the bah in a little bit...with a ride home on my list and have a pity party

Kelli

thanks for the quick replies and the sharing of feelings, it is nice to know that i am not alone

Kelli, I'm sorry you're having problems with your SVX, but I think more and more of us are going to encounter the same thing. Yeah, I consider SVXs reliable and very well-built - but yours is eleven or twelve years old, now, and in a cold-weather state. These also happen to be relatively complicated cars, with lots of little stuff that can go wrong with them. They're going to need more and more care as they get older.

I know you're looking for encouragement, and I don't mean to give you the opposite. I love my SVX as much as anybody here, and I wish I could drive it every day. But I realized that at some point the car was going to require more care than it was worth as a daily driver. That's why my SVX sits in the garage while I drive a Justy with (almost) no heat.

As this group grows and evolves, more and more people are going to reach that point. They're gonna get fed up. Some of us will dump our cars and some of us will put them away.

Now, your current problems may be just a run of bad luck. Fix the car and hope. But at some point, your SVX will no longer be viable daily transportation.

You're right. You just need to get rid of the sucker. It's nothing but trouble and just needs to be abandoned on the side of the road somewhere. I'll PM you my address and you can abandon it in front of my house.

Kelli, my dear. My obsession with these silly cars has nearly put me in the poorhouse. With all of the tranny troubles on Patience, tickets, one bearing each, in each car (so far), rentals while in the shop, plane tickets to pick up cars, the cost of meets . . . BUT, I'm just crazy enough to keep on keepin' on. I'd pull an Earl and buy every darned one I saw if I could get by with it. And, I don't think it's so much the car any more as it is the association it has with connecting me with people like you and Mike, and Lwin and Mike and Doug and Mike and Joe and Larry and Ron and Michelle and Don and Harry and Harry and John and John and John and Mike . . . . Nobody would fault you for dumping the car if it became too much. You'd still be part of the family. It's just that some of us are just plain nuts.

When I get to that point, I'm going to have mine bronzed.

Kelli, you don't want to drive to Kentucky - it's too scary a place. Drive it to New Mexico and abandon it in front of MY house.

I get to feeling the same way whenever something goes wrong with mine (or even if I THINK something is going wrong). But after it's fixed, like TE1221 said - she and I feel like a million bucks.

I have begun to look around to see if there are any cars I'd want to replace my SVX with, and there just aren't.

If you are dumping, I will fly over and take if off your hands. See.. I'll even save you the trouble of driving out and you get to see me at the same time. Just keep her. If you do have to dump, try to find another one with a better track record. I burnt pretty bad on my first one. I am on my 3rd now and looking for my 4th (I think). I guess I am nuts but give her a chance. Sometimes (yesterday) I felt like I just want to go kick the door in. I had to open up the back side panel because my window was stuck. Now it is working and I am loving her again. So its all a love and hate relationship but a good one.

Hope you feel better.
