Will 245/40/R17s work on STi 17" wheels with the SVX?
I'm looking at picking up a set of 2005-2007 STi wheels. I'd like to run 245/40R17s if they'll fit, but I'm not sure they will. Anyone have experience running anything other than 225/45R17s?

No problems whatsoever. Mount them, put them on the car, and off you go. I'm running General Exclaim UHP's, but any 245/40/17 will do. There is good clearance all around. Actually, according to Tire Rack specs the Generals and Contis both have a section width of 9.8 inches.

One thing that you will want to do is shop around for a good price on mounting. Some shops will nail you good for 40 profile tires; the one I went to railed me for $170 for the set!

Thanks for the suggestions. I may be driving with a lot of load in the rear...you guys have never had any rubbing then? My Forester can't take wider than 225s on my '04 STi wheels without strut clearance issues. Just gotta make sure.

I've never had trouble with mine - 245/40/17 Bridgestone RE01Rs on '07 STi wheels. Being a little bit lower and getting some roll from autocross, they're fine.
