Transmission concerns

Background:
I have a 92 SVX, the records that came with the car show that the transmission was replaced at 98k. It currently has 141k on it. I just had the car serviced including replacing the trans fluid. This behavior existed before and after that service.

What I'm seeing:
Transmission slipping - It slips especially when cold (the car, not the outside temp). As the car gets warmer it becomes less obnoxious but still present. It's more obvious in lower gears when upshifting, and it'll often start up/downshifting repeatedly until it finds its happy spot. Once I get the car on the highway it stays happy in its high gear.

Regardless of car temp the trans will ALWAYS slip in a turn. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm cornering aggressivelly or not. If there's any body lean the trans will slip until the car gets straightened back up.

I've not driven very many auto trans'd cars in my life, so what I need to know is;

a: Is this normal?
b: Is this an indication that some minor service/adjustments are required?
or
c: Is this indicative of a catastrophic imminent failure?

Let me know if anymore information would be useful, and thanks for any help!

Re: Transmission concerns

The hunting for the gear only seems to happen when it (the car) is particularly cold. It's a pretty minor thing at the moment. The general slipping is more common, and the slippage when cornering has me the most concerned. It's rather annoying to take a corner, then have to coast for 10-15 seconds after the turn before I can safely hit the gas again.

I'll look for some information on the TPS here. Thanks.

Hi Ricter, I'm no expert but you might check the transmission fluid level. Take care, BOBB

I'd be inclined to agree with you, but I have checked the level and like I said initially I have had the fluid replaced. Checked regularly before and after.

It does feel that way though. Especially in the turns. I'd almost wonder if there was enough sloshing of the trans fluid in those turns to cause the slipping. It doesn't seem feasible to me that it could do that. I'd think it a bit too viscous to really be an issue. But that is what it feels like.

Re: Transmission concerns

I may be off, but could a bad torque converter cause these problems? I am unsure of what happens in a Suby trans when they go but just a random thought.
