Re: protectors

judging from the picture it looks like it may just be a gasket similar to our valve covers (just goes around the periphery of the mating surface between spoiler and trunk lid. When you install it you can hold it in place with a little silicone to keep the gasket from wandering.

The strand of gasket material IS correct. You just make an onal out od it to match the bottom of the spoiler mounting face and press the ends together to form a seal

It is not a preformed shape. The material is used as a cushion between the trunk and spoiler and to see out moisture.

Re: protectors

You could probably just get some simple foam weatherstripping from Home Depot that will work just as well and probably cost a lot less.

My method was a little more costly but worth it:

Re: protectors

I love what you did there, looks great. I think I'll do the same when I get the black top painted.

Re: protectors

This kinda shows how far it went back, this was how I mocked it up to get the positioning exactly where I wanted it.

If you want to copy this, make sure you get someone who knows fiberglass really well to do it, it can be tricky to get it right and not have issues down the road. It will also be tricky to paint since it is now one piece. Also, make sure the wing can breathe, if it is totally sealed, it will crack when the air inside heats up, it has breathing holes from the factory, but they will most likely get covered up.

I am not sure how much a shop in your area would charge to do this properly, might not be cheap, I have a lot of hours in grinding and shaping it to make it perfect and flow exactly how I wanted it to. I have a lot of time in little modifications in an effort to make the car more smooth, shaved the door handles, the windshield washer squirters on the hood, the hood emblem, the trunk lock and the antenna. More or less just to show off what I can do, since I work in a custom and collision body shop, sadly I had to show off some of my collision skills too when I replaced the passenger's quarter panel.

Very cool, looks very well done. Is Kannapolis anywhere near raleigh/durham? I might be road tripping there to visit family this spring break.
