red 95 back in action

At long last - been ages but with major heart surgery she lives again.

To cut a long story short ...........- 3 mths ago it looks as if the engine had spun/wiped a bearing whilst coming off the f4 to home - engine making a awful racket.

So repairs began and using the white 7/8th as a donor engine we managed to make 1 serviceable engine out of the 2, replaced all the seals and belts and runs just perfectly.

Only issues are - check engine light comes on after car has warmed up (no error codes though) and although the temp gauge is showing normal - my gut feeling is the engine bay is pretty hot - don't ever remember it being as hot as this - will get a IR thermometer and sus this out.

Gee it's great to be back in the SVX

cheers
bruce

Re: red 95 back in action

Nice one!! That's one more SVX back in action.

Have you changed the coolant temp sensor? when I did this I also changed the Gauge temp sensor, it may give the ECU and you a better indication, but may not and they're cheap and worth it. Mine feels like it's running pretty damn hot under the hood too, it gets pretty hot inside the car too.

Would be great to find out what happens with the IR thermometer.

Jordan.

Woohoo!

I happened to drive past your house tonight - and there it was!

Now that the old engine has been disassembled, do you have any idea what caused it to fail?

...........now that your SVX is running, we need to organise an SVX cruise with yourself, myself, Jordan - and maybe Brady...?

.......I miss those.........!

Jason.

Well done!

I am up for a CRUISE! I am just in the middle of having my sway bar bushings replaced.

Let's organise a SVX orgy.

Re: red 95 back in action

Just give me a couple of weeks to make sure the car run reliable.

Checked code = 34 / egr system. Tried to clear code yesterday no go.

Today it worked and no check engine light so either intermittent problem or only registers a problem when hot/warm.

I'm off for 'test run' and see how the codes go................

Hey Jason - Subway have a Vortex on their advertising/poster

cheers
