Re: New Tires on my baby

I'm running 245/40/17 General Exclaim UHP's on mine. Soon I'll be putting on a set of Continentals for the trip back to school, mostly to keep the miles off my performance rubber. I really want to try the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs though.

Re: New Tires on my baby

I had Sumitomu not sure which model, they were great but I don't they're sold in Aus anymore. Still have them on the rear and dodgy Nexen brand on front. I still haven't experienced what an upper range tyre feels like compared to generic

Re: New Tires on my baby

I have had Bridgestone S02 on for a while. They are a good tyre for the wet and dry, have no trouble out handling me. They have become quite noisy as they wear. Time to change them to something quieter.

Harvey.

Re: New Tires on my baby

How much you are paying per tire there? (stock size?)

Yesterday I also ordered the same tire as yours.
Falken 912 for my dd. I read good things about this
and I compare it's "quite" lighter compare to other brands.
I will be excited when they come after I put them on
the car.

Re: New Tires on my baby

I have Bridgestone Potenza (standard rims) on the Pearlie. They are pretty damned good, but I don't know what I paid for them. My fave tyres were Pirelli P7000's, but they stopped making them.

I dis have Goodyear Eagle F1's on when I bought it. They were the "Holy ....!" tyres because they would stick and stick and stick and stick.... then just let go when you were going too fast round a corner to fix your error in judgement.

Re: New Tires on my baby

I have a set of Falkens on as summer tires and find them very noisy compared to my winter tires. Seems odd to me. I would think the winter tires would be much more noisey than the Falken summer tires. Anyone else find Falkens super noisey.

Re: New Tires on my baby

Well, I'm not running an SVX anymore. But I can tell ya what I used to run on it and what I am running on the STi now...

SVX: (from first to last set of tires)
- BFG "cheap tires that the previous owner had on the car when I got it from the dealership" in 225/55/16
- Kumho Ectsa Supra 712's (225/40/18)...
- Kumho Ectsa MX's (225/40/18)... Two sets of these
- Falken Azenis (225/50/16) My Autocross tires... (abit noisy after they started wearing down)...
------------------------------------------------------------

STi:
- Continental ContiSportContact3's (On ALL 3 sets of wheels and ranging from 245/40/17, 265/35/18, and 285/35/18)
- Continental ExtremeContact DW's (245/45/17 - Current Daily Drivers)

- Dunlop Star Spec 1 (265/35/18)... The next Autocross / Track tires

The Continental ContiSportContact3's are AWESOME TIRES!! They are just alittle pricy for me at the moment

Harvey, you'll LOVE the Continental ContiSportContact3's... They are alittle pricy but they are by far the best tire overall I have ever driven on

No wonder they come standard on many Porsche, Bimmer and Mercedes cars

Re: New Tires on my baby

I just put on a set of Toyo T1Rs, 225-50-16, NZ$950 fitted, balanced and alignment, very happy.

If you are thinking of geeting Goodyear Eagle F-1s, DON'T, the ones here in NZ are from China and have bad tread separation problems. The problems with the Chinese Goodyears are soo bad they have resorted to putting out a glossy pamphlet to they are just as good as the German Goodyears but only in the context of stopping distance.
