Re: Its Ricetastic!

Question! why does everyone on this thread hate rice so much? I dont understand it, every modification i have ever seen on this forum (no matter what it is) someone makes a "ricey comment". I agree the pictures posted on here are extreme cases of rice, But people on this forum consider every little modification rice it doesnt matter what it is or how well it was done it will be rice!

Re: Its Ricetastic!

More like what does the "ricey" terminology means?
Shouldn't it be "racey" instead? Because as far as I know, ricey comes from rice. Now three scenarios here:
1- Rice = China = Cheap imitation = No taste = ugly.
2- Rice = Runs on Rice = Slowevenifitlooksfast = fake.
3- All of the above.

Should I make a poll?

Which is it, racey or ricey? :P

I don't think thats the idea..

Mostly ' Rice ' means unnecessary... like a whole lot of extra cosmetic weight / stickers / stupid things have been added to the car to make it flashy..

I think a lot of people here who are SVX enthusiasts want the cars to look as stock is all. It's like a classic, you want it to remain as untouched / showroom as you can... that red SVX above I posted with the big tail on it is just wrong... the lines of the car are fractured, it just adds a lot of extra unnecessary weight bearing down on the rear wheels.

Also a lot of ' Ricey ' add ons are purely cosmetic, or everything has been poured into one area, such as adding turbo/nos to a car, without strengthening the suspension, brakes and motor mounts. Some people put a big tailpipe onto a car.. I love pulling up to someone at 20km/hour and their engine sounds like its about to explode through the back of the car.

Here is an example.
Non rice

Rice

The scooby would eat that civic and spit out the remains.
That civic doesn't even clear the grass.. and the tomato cans on the back..
they're big enough you could stick your arm in them and steal engine parts.

Here endeth the lesson.

My point was more that the people on this forum making the "ricey" comments as he had stated, are the same ones modifying their vehicles. The difference? Most of us try to have some class or at least logical functionality.
I don't think it's fair to say "people on this forum consider every little modification rice", because we don't.

Re: Its Ricetastic!

Some people purposely add cardboard and whatever to rice out a car because they are making fun of the true "ricers". I had a friend who took his old '88 carolla and made a body kit out of cardboard and duct tape, put an actually coffee can on the end of the exhaust, etc. just to make fun of all the idiots who put body kits, altezza tail lights, hids but then leave the motor, suspension completely stock...

oh im sorry i meant to say that any modification other then rims, koni's, exhaust, mt swap, or the acylone badge is rice(most of which effect the performance 0%).those who disagree with this statement need to open their eyes alittle wider! I love how alot of the people on this forum talk about how they drive this car because it is unique, but they refuse to do any modification outside of these.(insert your own lemming comment here)

i understand the people who want to keep there svxii "PURE" how it was manufactured. I have much respect for these people. But some of us dont want to be generic... i know thats why i bought this car in the first place.

im just tired of the rice comments, this forum is flooded with them. I wish people on here would be a little more opened minded or keep their mouths shut(please no amendment bs). All these rice comments are discouraging peoples individuality, one of these people might have an amazing mod but none of us will ever see it because they dont want to waste their time reading anti rice comments on their post.

Im sorry if i offended any of you acylone badge bbs rim svx owners just stating my observations!
thats the end of my ranting... for now
