Exclamation Al Yone singing about our car!

I was listening to an old tape I had recorded from a concert in September of 1998. It was a concert by a regionally-famous blues singer, Al C. Yone. The quality is pretty bad because it's from a handheld tape recorder I had smuggled into the concert...don't tell anyone

I didn't remember that Al had sung this song because at the time I didn't own an SVX (I bought my '94 SVX used in 1999). This was the first time I had listened to the tape in a couple of years and I almost fell out of my seat when I heard it--Al C. Yone singing a song about my car! Unfortunately this song is not on any of his albums so don't look for it in the stores.

I have moved it from tape to two different sound formats on my website. Again, sorry for the poor quality of the recording. Enjoy.

<Shaking head> John, John, John. How sad it is to us "chronologically challenged" individuals, when someone refers to a recording made in 1998 as "old."

Hahahaha, Al C. Yone, that's a good one! Who is that singing in the recording really?

Lyrics...I think

>> Could you post the WORDS please? I couldn't understand

I'm not totally sure what ALL the words are but my tape recording is a little better than the sound files. Here are the lyrics to the best that I can make out...

----------------------------------------
I've got a sagging sun visor flappin' in my face.
I've got badly warped rotors I'm gonna need me new brakes.
I need a new transmission this one's slippin' in all gears.
All of these problems are bringing me to tears.
I own a Subaru SVX and so it would seem...
I've got the Subaru SVX blues.

I've got a chip in my windshield but it costs a grand to fix.
I've got heat shields that rattle; ABS relay that clicks.
And the rear wheel bearings are just roaring in my ears.
All of these problems are bringing me to tears.
I own a Subaru SVX you know what that means...
I've got the Subaru SVX blues.

But I like my SVX better than anything by far.
You won't catch me sitting in some cookie cutter car.
I like the way that people stare and the questions they ask.
But I wish they'd stop saying, "Batman called. He wants the Batmobile back."

The power steering pump is leaking some oil.
I took it to a mechanic, he'd never seen one before.
My bank account's depleted I'll be in debt for seven years.
All of these problems are bringing me to tears.
I own a Subaru SVX you know what that means...
I've got the Subaru SVX blues.
----------------------------------------

I could have interpreted some of the lyrics wrong. Let me know if you hear something different than what I have posted. I tried to locate some more information about Al Yone online but I can't seem to find a thing on him ANYWHERE! If anyone knows any more about Al (including how to contact him) let me know. Maybe we could get the lyrics straight from him.

Last I heard Al C. Yone hit Stardom in a far-away place.

Just look up in the sky if you ever want to be reminded.

John, if those weren't the correct lyrics, they should be. Good job. Didn't Al have a follow-up song to that one?

"I've got those steadily depressin', low-down mind-messin', workin'-on-my-SVX blues!"
