Jack Upgrade?
A little word association... When I say, "cupholder", everyone says, "wedgie!" But when I say, "jack", not everyone says, "stock!"
I know there are plenty of people who feel that, when used properly, the stock jack does its job 100%, and that this isn't even an issue. For those who are leery, wary, or just plain skeered of the jack that came with the SVX, is there a consensus for a good regular travel replacement?

I used to have a cheap 2 ton floor jack in my turbowagon, got it on sale at Schuck's Auto Supply for $20, included two jack stands. I tried a bottle jack, but the fluid leaks out of them if you store them on their side. The floor jack was small enough it fit in the little compartment in the back of my wagon.
I'm not 100% familiar with the trunk layout of my SVX, but if there is a side compartment, you might be able to put a bottle jack in there, or it might fit in the well with the spare tire.

I've never seen a hydraulic type jack that will fit into the "out of the way" area in the SVX, and we don't have the extra cubbies like Honda is used to in his older Soobs.
I've always wondered if the normal scissor jack from my Legacy would fit anywhere in the trunk. No, it's not as good as a floor jack, but at least it has a footprint larger than a postage stamp ^^^^Has never used the stock SVX jack...

Since I don't own the stock jack, I have no idea if I'd trust one. I carry a small 2T floor jack in a rubbermaid storage tote with my tools. You can get a scissor jack, that looks fairly stable, at Wal-Mart for $12.
I had an old Ford scissor jack collapse on me once...not fun! Especially since it was the screw that snapped.

I use a scissor jack from something or another. It happens to fit damn good next to the spare.
Though, you can get better gas mileage AND go faster if you just take the jack, spare, and tools out and carry an aa card. Of course, for 100 mile or more trips, it is a good idea to reload the trunk

I justordered one of these, should be here friday but comparing to harbor freight it is a wee bit heavier.
A friend has the HF jack, never used it on a car, just to move $400,000 worth of wine botteling equipment arround and for $80 I was impressed, but I wanted a bit more lift in hight and weight, and got really tired of carying the old boat anchor everywhere, even loading it in the tractor bucket became a PITA.

My jack upgrade: The stock jack seems much more stable in my gravel driveway when I place a block of wood beneath it, so a length of 2x4 is standard gear in my cars.
