To Bra or Not to Bra
I noticed eddycat has a bra on his blue beauty. After this winter's (my first with SVX) sandblasting I'm rethinking of using one for only the winter months. My car is black (or Ebony Pearl for the purists) so it won't be THAT noticable.
Question is: Will it help or hurt? My front end needs a new paint job now after just one winter. I cringed everytime I had to drive on wet, snowy, SANDY, highways and heard that sound of grinding on my windshield. What can I do? I HAVE to drive the car. That's why I bought it.

Me too
I have been thinking of the front end cover ( or Bra if you like ) also. My front end is looking extremly bad. So is the bottom side panels. This winter did a number on mine for scratches and scrapes. If I could afford the $3500 for a new paint job I would. But until that day arrives, I will have to make do. The front end cover will help stop future damage, and will help hide the current scrathes and scrapes she recieved this winter. Just my $.02

I always thought mine would look good with one, but, I didn't like the "plain Jane" black. When PhastSVX, some time ago, offered his for sale with the SVX in white on the front, I thought, "hmmmm, that could be cool." For some reason or another, we never got together on my buying it, so, it went by the wayside (and the car, when he sold it).
After speaking to people who've used them, though, I'm glad I didn't get it. Horror stories of (as eddy stated) bleeding, chaffing, etc. have made me re-think, and now, I'm inclined do do without it. Of course, if your front end's "trashed" already, I wouldn't see any reason why you wouldn't use it until the cash rolls in for a paint job.

bra
i have a bra that i purchased new, only had it on the car for a few weeks. don't need it. i'll sell it for 40.00 it any of you want it.
living in southern cal, we really don't have much need for it, i don't drive the blowing deserts often. or the sandy beach roads much. and now the carbon fiber will be there, and it can easily be repolished. email me direct for the bra, i ship ups out of my gallery everyday. |

<<To me they are about as desirable as the see-through shrink wrap plastic certain people put on furniture>>
Hey, no need to attack a southern boy's heritage. Them thangs are actually there to keep you stuck to the couch in an upright position after a new batch o' moonshine's been poured off.

Bra???
I agree that the bra adds nothing to the looks of the car (IMHO), but after watching the little stone chips start to add up on my newly-painted hood, I bought one for "protection".
It works out well for me because my SVX is not my everyday driver. If it WAS, it would be a major headache. Those things don't breathe, so if you get one wet and then let the sun hit it, the paint is likely to cloud/discolor underneath it. Not to mention having to keep the things clean underneath so that the accumulated dirt doesn't turn it into a big piece of sand paper. So yeah, I use one - but just be careful. They are not a "set it and forget it" item.

I like cars without the bra on. With women on the other hand, the bra often looks nicer than running around topless. Got to leave some for the imagination.
Back to the car: I have been reading up on the invisiable plastic coat that you can stick on your bonnet. I can talk to the boys at the car botique and see how much it could cost and the all the info. lwin |

With the cars, it's not gravity that wins in the end. With the women, braless is often{sometimes?} a declaration of intent. So what's viewed is skewed. The protective nature of these{SVX} bras is prophylactic, and about as photogenic. I am, I accept, speaking from a climate where dust abrasion is not a problem and stone chips only happen to the police in a "hot pursuit" situation. So anyone who likes their bra, feel free to wear stockings too, I don't care. I just can't imagine Senor Giugiaro did much colour matching or wind tunnel work on them. Joe

SVX lingerie! ??
Where? Where? I am in Chicago. The weather sucks and salt and stones, not to mention holes on the road are really bad. I want to repaint my car into the mustang blue -- or the new audi blue (If anyone makes fun of it, I will paint your svx in technicolour rainbow! hehe) After that, I am thinking of covering the car in shrinkwrap or some form of clear coat plastic so that I can remove layers of plastic one by one without the rocks touching the paint. Am I making sense or is it too late at night? |
