I think I'll actually like it when the aftermarket gets ahold of it and fixes the front end a little.

Still not digging the 5-door or those ugly tails, but the flairs and the new bumper kind of make up for the corolla-ness.

Hmmmm... Looks better than a standard WRX... But still, it's missing that special something that the old ones had... You know what it is... It's the same feeling I got when in 2001 they introduced the Bugeye STi (in Australia ofcorse)... And going from the old GC8 bodystyle to the Bugeye just felt wrong... I guess that's kinda how I feel about this car... I'm sure the overall engineering of the car has improved, but it looks like it's missing somethihng

However, it must be said that I do like the interior alot better than the old ones... And if they drive better than the old ones, I'll probably still get one in 2 years

I can't speak for the STI since we don't have 'em here yet, but I did a PDI on a red 2008 WRX on Saturday, and I must say it is FAST! I've never had a first gen WRX out on the road, just in the parking lot after doing an oil change, so I don't know how it compares, but it drives nice! I'm not crazy about the looks myself, although this one was a 4 door sedan so it looks a lot better IMHO than the 5 door (Which to me looks like a shrunken Tribeca).

One of the things on the PDI checksheet is "vehicle performance and handling" so I felt obligated to take it out and open it up :-P I didn't redline it or other such things that are not smart with a vehicle with 12 miles on it...

I'm hopin they send us down to Phoenix to drive 'em on the race track like they did when the STi came out in '04... (Which I missed out on since I didn't work there yet...)

thr front is BUTT ugly, but the ricers will re-bumper it anyway. when you look at the side profile, it looks okay till you get to the other two doors...Didnt subaru say it was going to be a three door? They blew it from that point on.

It must be said, the rear can be fixed with a taillight red-out, but overall they just ****ed up what use dto be a decent, albeit square, car

i hate hatchbacks. if i wanted a hatchback (and electrical problems ), i'd buy a VW.

i can't wait to see how awful the STI sedan looks ......

I'm going to go against the grain and say that I like it. The first generation WRX is still my favorite but this is a big improvement over last years model.

I've always liked hatchbacks, but I am an 80's kind of guy.

That's my feeling at this point, keep my WRX for another year and then make a decision about what to drive next. Personally, I do like the new hatchback STI -- looks 10x better than the new WRX. I also heard good things about the handling of the new EVO X. I might also consider a 350Z, RX-8, heck maybe even an older S2000 as they can be had for little $$$.
