Thumbs up

There is a great section in there about caring for ecsaine, perhaps it could find it's way to the how-to section.

So I think Ecsaine, Ultrasuede and Alcantara are all made by the same company Toray Industries.

Does anybody know any different? Are there other manufacturers?

From what I've read, all are made by Toray, just marketed under different names in different markets. This is the same fabric they use in the Lexus interiors.

very informative, I've been calling it "ess-kane", although 'Alcyone Alcantara' sounds cooler

Maybe we all have our brand of English and accept it for what it is----provided we spell it correctly. We all seem to have our own pet peeves.

Could you spell that phonetically for me, please? Is that pronounced "awl-con-tahr-uh", "al-can-tair-uh" or something in between????

I vote we all call it "Ultrasuede" (or "fake swade" ).

ultrasuede sounds cheesy, for some reason it makes me think of leisure suits and/or pleather

If you're old enough, you'll remember Qiana.

Wikipedia had this to say:

"Qiana is a silky nylon fiber first developed by DuPont in 1968. Initially intended for high-end fashions, it eventually became a popular material in the 1970s for men's shirts, displaying bold patterns and large images. The shirts were generally cut tight and included wide collars to fit over the collars of the double-knit leisure suit coats which were worn popularly to discos."

Could have been a pattern for the JDM floor mats...

(Long before they thought of the SVX BeeGee's edition)

I don't think I've ever heard the word actually spoken. I simply went "with the flow" (as it were) here.....
Anyone need some?

I found this site following links off the Ecsaine.com page. I haven't checked any of them out yet.
