Exclamation Weird ticking from trunk (drains battery)

My '92 SVX makes this horrible ticking from the trunk. And it only does it when the car is turned off. It makes my seat belts jerk into position when entering or exiting. It sounds identical to a turn signal. If I don't disconnect my battery, it will be completely drained very quickly. Just wearin that alternator out for no reason.

Is the sound definitly coming from just the trunk area? Or is it possible that it is coming from the backseat area? The motors for the automatic seatbelts are located in the backseat right alongside the door on both sides of the SVX. Does it sound like its coming from one side of the car more than the other?

Welcome to the site.

It is the seatbelt control box. I have seen this happen a few times. It makes the sound and the seat belts jerk. As time goes on, it will get worse. You need a new control box and the battery will not go dead and the seat belts will work if they are not working properly. Good luck.

PS The box is up under the finish pannel just ahead of the trunk light under the rear deck.

Yep, that's correct. Expect to pay about 30 or 40 bucks for a control box on ebay.
