Probably a better place to ask that question. The XT I can't tell you much about. The XT6 is an electrical nightmare, and the air struts are expensive. Mine's not running real good right now...but I still love it. It's a very fun car, much more agile than the SVX.

my legacy has died for the last time
and i need a new car
but svxs are few and far apart
and the ones for sale are either too expensive or too far away

but there was an xt for sale around the way

so i thought id ask

do you think a better plan would be to save for the svx...

xt me

I may be able to help with some of your questions. I know the XT pretty well, that is if it's the 1.8 with multiport injection with 97 horses. I completely gutted one once " inside" and still have alot of parts for it. Glad to help if I can.

If ya think that the SVX is too expensive then don't get one... You will spend alot of money on an SVX if ya don't get a good one.... And anyone with a good one is gonna sell it for a large amount... Over all I think that ya are better off getting an XT... My friend has an XT with the 1.8l engine and FWD... That little beast has over 270,000 miles on it and it still runs like crazy!!! Get one of them... That little 1.8l engine is a beast

spending money over time isnt the problem
spending it all at once is

i wouldnt mind a svx with a few problems as long as it was still drivable

at the same time
the xt has less than 100000 miles on it
and is like $1300
(i could spend more probably like 3200ish)

That's a good price, but honestly if you like the SVX more, you could probably find a good '92 for ~$2500 from a private party (especially if you walk with cash).

P.S. XT's are very cool though.

i see those alot
just a just 2 far away
like the autotrader site has a 94 for like 3200
not much about it tho
just says good miles and basic stuff
(200 miles away)

p.s.
what is a high amount of miles on a svx
as far as looking to buy is concerned

and finding one that says
needs tlc
would that be a sound investment if the miles are right

It really depends. If you have cash, buying one from a private party is much better in my view than getting one from a dealer.

Buying an SVX with 140K+ miles is fine as these cars can last a good while, however, you'll want to find the SVX with 'well maintained' miles. Documentation of service, etc.

Because SVXs are so rare (like XT's), I travelled about 150 miles to get mine...

PM me if you need any other info or tips.

A friend of mine got a great deal on a mint xt6 with a brand new set of air bags. That thing was awesome, we'd load 10 people on the back, let it auto-level then all jump off (this was in high school)...and man did it look good. The gague cluster that moved with the tilt/telescopic steering column, the 4wd button on the auto lever (my friend had the 5-speed), the asymetrical steering wheel, flush door handles, headlight squirters, and the best winshield wiper ever engineered...if ever there was a car with character...that was it. Unfortunetly said car met an untimely end. An abreviated account is here
(a site my friends and i made in high school and still kinda keep up...if you're bored you can check out the rest here its relatively entertaining). So yeah, Good car!
