Opinions needed.

A friend of mine asked me to help her find a new car. We were checking out the 2000 Hyundai Tiburon on a couple of sites and she really likes it. I have not heard anything bad about it, but I could not find a crash test rating for it anywhere. I was wondering if anyone here had an opinion on the vehicle. Good or Bad?

OK for the money, but quite tinney (sp?) As this is a Subaru site, have she thought about a Forester?

But if she is set on the tibby make sure it's the 6 cyl. Heard a lot of bad things obut the 4 cyl. ones.

I had her look at the Subarus first. But they just aren't "cute" enough. Thanks for the tip on the 4 cyl. She probably would have bought that one. We also looked at the ford escort zx2 and toyota celica. But the Tiburon was the best priced.

That is because you get what you pay for. Under the skin it is still a budget Hyundai. Check out some of the reviews online.

Volkswagen Golf (or Jetta) TDI... That's the Turbo Diesel version. They are GREAT motors that will get you an average of atleast high 40mpg figures. Even up into the 50's when you are on the highway. And they aren't really slow either. They only have about 100 hp but what really matters is that they have 177lb/ft torque

I drove my old roommate's Golf TDi and it kinda supprised me. I thought it was gonna be really slow, but it wasn't at all!!!

Cars

Hi Leviathan, You will remember what a great car it was long after you don't care what it looks like. Never buy a car just because you like/love the way it looks. There has been some nice sheet metal covering junk drive trains. The new Hyundia got a very high rating this year, but the older years were pretty bad. You pays your money, and you gets your thrills. Take care, BOBB

I have spoken to a few Tib owners because there is a chance I may be buying one in a year or two. The 03 Tibs have had some major problems (transmission), but Hyundai has attempted to fix all of them and the 04s have not had any major problems so far.

Tiburon

The resale value nose dives quick on Hyundai. Subie's arent cute enough? No offense but the Tiburon is butt ugly.

The Second she would have said that to me... I would have told
her to find her own car... its such a DUMB idea to buy a car
because its "cute"

I HATE women who do that (personaly)
