What rear spoiler is this?

The picture is from Dayle's site, but I don't see the spoiler for sale anywhere. Anyone know where I can get one of these?

For that matter, how about the side skirts? I have a feeling its one of those extremely expensive body kits, but I like how it updates the styling of the car a bit, and may have to purchase one after all the important restoration work is done on my car.

That picture is of the prototype SVX Subaru had in auto shows in 1990. Ironic that it is older than the final produciton design, yet some of the features do indeed update the look.

The spoiler and side skirts do not exist anywhere except on the few prototype SVXes, where ever they are.

I (and several others) want this look for my car and whenever someone suggests they might want to produce body parts I send them this picture.

I believe the side skirts are now in development, maybe some day they will be available.

My guess

is that prototype SVXs have long since been destroyed. Assuming SVX development went like development here where I work , too many parts get swapped on prototypes. They don't want the liability of having that around, so they crush them (or so I've been told).

I don't think they even brought in the prototype SVX into the US.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that Ford and GM have alot of their old concept cars from way back. They keep them in storage, and won't sell them to anyone. I think I saw a show about it, once.

And if SOA does have the prototype car (which is doubtful), it will not be have a VIN so you can't drive it.

Another picture of it is here: http://www.geocities.com/jamsvx2/modifications.html
(The picture next to the section on rear spoilers)

OK, take a look at the second car in from the front in this picture. Its the same rear spoiler, is that one of the prototypes as well? This is from Jamsvx's site, maybe he can tell us where it came from.

You may have to download it and zoom in on that section with image editing software in order to really see it, but it looks at the very least extremely close to the other one I asked about.

And on the subject of Ford prototypes, yes, they do keep them. They actually auctioned a large number of them off a year or two ago, but most of them couldn't be driven for reasons other than a lack of VINs (ie no engines, etc).

It is the JDM "high" spoiler. There were 2 types of rear spoiler for the JDM market. The "high" and the "low" type. The "low" type was the same as the US type.

Check this link.

Yeah, that looks like the second one, but after closer inspection I guess the first one is different from the second. Oh well, I guess I'll have to settle or wait for someone to finally emulate the prototype styling. I don't suppose the "high" JDM is easily acquirable here? As much as I hate the really high wing ricer look that is so common and considered attractive among my generation, I think the US stock one is just a bit too short for my tastes, so the high one comes as close as I've seen so far to be just what I'm looking for.

Too High

This one is a bit high for my tastes even though it is one of mine. (It was on it when I acquired it)

I've looked at what you have for sale, and if I had to choose one of those, the "JDM" one would probably be it. Tell me, what is this "creative installation" you mention about that one?

Not that there is anything wrong with the others, mind you, they just don't quite match my tastes. Even that one is a bit taller than I would really like. I'd go with the "real carbon fiber mid wing" but that would be about 60% of what I orginally paid for the car! My only other choice from you is the plain "mid wing", but again its a tad to tall for my tastes. Oh well, eventually I will find a rear spoiler I like!

Sideskirts

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...threadid=10908

Just checked and it was Stevebsy that was talking about these sideskirts. Not sure on the progress, though I'm sure he could tell you.

Excellent, now all we need is someone to do the rear spoiler. I'm considering learning how to work with fiberglass, so perhaps I could do it after I figure it out and get a mold for it.
