Re: Ice's fully-baked turbo build
Never lift: You think that is a stock set up? Never saw a stock auto with this all sticking out!

Re: Ice's fully-baked turbo build
Haha no no, not that intercooler in particular. Factory was two small side mount intercoolers, no? I was just referring to it being twin-turbo from the factory.

Re: Ice's fully-baked turbo build
I wouldn't mind figuring out how to get the electric rack from the BRZ and other newest gen subies into the SVX to get rid of all that fluid and plumbing. Then it would also allow me to get my alternator back on top of the motor in place of the PS pump and not so scarily close to the ground.

Re: Ice's fully-baked turbo build
The mounting of the BRZ rack is very different from the SVX and would require modification of the subframe to fit. That being said, if you could make it work it would be an awesome mod. Not only to remove the pump and associated parts/weight, but also to get a better steering ratio. I don't know what the SVX has (Google isn't helping me out much), but a BRZ's rack is 13.1:1. Compare this to a WRX at 16.5 and STi at 15:1. I have a feeling it would take significant rework of the bits under the dashboard though, the electric motor on the column probably occupies a fair amount of space that's currently used by other things.

The SVX rack ratio is 16.2:1. The RHD JDM 4WS front rack is 14.2:1

Re: Ice's fully-baked turbo build
Well how about that. I wonder if the rack and pinion gears from a RHD rack could be swapped into a LHD one, it would be a huge improvement.
Actually now that I'm drawing it in my head I don't think it would work. The spiral/helix on the pinion is probably reversed due to the angle the steering couple meets the rack at. Darn.
