How to change to a five speed in Australia.
I have my 5 speed all sort thanks to Harvey and Phil, the speedo and cruise control all works and it is a blast. If anyone is thinking of changing to a 5 speed it is easier to do it to a right hand drive then the USA version. The current brake peddle and accelerator don't move just add a extra peddle. I kept the templete for the cut out in the fire wall for the clutch etc. Also the speedo and wireing in Australia is totaly different so it was a pain in the ass to sort out but now it is done it will be a breeze for all that follow. If anybody is planning to give it a go let me know and I will be happy to guide them through.

1995 - SVX 700,000 K Mine, DMS Struts to lift car 2in. Tyres Wrangler Silent Armor 235/70R16, PBR Radiator. 6 speed with DCCD and R180 rer diff, Heavy duty top strut mounts front and rear. Speedo correction box fitted. New stero (gave up on the old one). Back seat removed and 2 spare tyres fitted for desert driving. ECUTune SC sitting in the box for the next SVX. 1992 - SVX 255 K Wife (Want to stay Married so not allowed to fit SC) 1992 - SVX Pearl with black roof race car roll cauge etc ready to race. Ex Tasman Targa car. 1995 - SVX Green low k mint condiation. 1995 - SVX Rally car, ex Matts car. Now to be used on track. 1992 - SVX red & Black being converted to Mid Engine. 1995 - SVX Red 143,000 bit rough. Owned 5 others Subaru back to a 1974 1400 GSR. |

It depends on what you get the gearbox and the parts for but i guess a couple of grand, as regards time I think you could do it in 2 weeks. I can suggest how to do it but I don't have the time to do the job.

Hi guys,
just joined the site and the info here is great! Just a quick question for you all.... how can I get a SVX engine, where from, and how much for a reliable one? On top of that, what would it cost me to overhaul it to make sure it was tight? Don't mean to threadjack, could just use some local knowledge. My thanks in advance. Cheers, Bruce. |

Best place is to get one from a jap importer, cost about $2,000 forget the rebuild unless you are going to get the parts from the USA. Is your motor dead?
