I think she's faster than the REX!!!

After many months of effort, I finally finished my 5 speed. I'm so excited!!

What is surprising me is that I actually think it may outrun the SVreX! Keep in mind, I am only measuring it by my trusty butt-o-meter, but I am shocked at what this thing will do!

I used the tranny from a 2001 RS, which had 4:11 gearing. It has a lightened flywheel, which allows the motor to jump to attention, and a performance clutch, which lets me drive harder than I should. It also has the full Koni/ GC suspension, which does a great job putting the power to the road.

I think the main performance difference is the ability to keep the car in the meat of the powerband. While the AT would shift when it felt like (keeping the rpm's down) and then soft shift into gear, I can run the MT hard and shift quickly and firmly into gear keeping the rpm's where I want them.

The attitude is completely different. My car is no longer a gran tourismo. It is a real sports car, with truly awesome acceleration.

It is going to be a long while before I can put it to any real test, but the butt-o-meter says she's awfully quick, and the smile on my face says I'm never going back!!

Good to be a full-fledged member of the 5 speed club!!

Thanks guys, for all your help!!

Sure wish I could have let you drive it last weekend!

Let me know, Alex, when you are heading through to FL- my place is open as a free hotel and includes 5 speed SVX rides.
