Anyone have any idea why....

My SVX revvs up of the line moves slowly then takes off like a bat outa' hell? Also, why does my "Power" light flash on and off sometimes do you think? Any Ideas would help, I I doubt its the tranny because its got about 5,000 miles on it because it is brnad new.

Could you be a bit more specific? You're saying it revs up, then kinda jumps? That could just be the kind of takeoff lull that the ECUtune chips are designed to eliminate. As for the power light, how long does it flash? Is it a rapid flashing, or just on for a few seconds then off?

First, this qusestion belongs in the Tech Q&A Forum. I'll move it there for you, but please post in the appropriate forum in the future.

Also, I'm sorry to be the one to break it to you, but your hope that a tranny problem 'isn't the tranny' is unlikely. Hopefully it's minor. When does your power light blink? Does it blink when you start the car? It sounds to me like you have a pressure problem or a bad low clutch.

yeah when I start it up the power light comes on, thats odd that the tranny would have a problem though, because we brought it to the local reace shop when I bought it about 300mi ago and it was all set and ready to go. BTW, punisher, its funny that you bumped it, I was just reading a thread after I posted this and you did the same thing, thanks.

Chris

PS. Please don't tell me its major

As the car is new to you, then you may not know how the POWER light works.

If it is blinking when you start up the car, it is saying there is a problem. Do a search for how to read the codes if this is the case.

But:

When you accelerate hard, the PWR light is meant to come on. This means that the computer has decided you want more acceleration, and it switches on a different map in the TCU to help you.

This different map holds on to lower gears for longer, so the acceleration is less leisurely. It switches off when the job is done for economy reasons.

Was it running better before?

Perhaps your IRIS valve is stuck?

Wouldn't a bad IRIS valve cause an engine fault code, and not one for the transmission, as is the case?

Honestly, I can't tell you whether or not it's major. But the fact that the power light blinks on startup confirms that you *do* have a problem with the transmission itself. Of course, that also suggests that you've got an electrical problem that's easily fixed.

And I'd get it fixed right now. The longer you let your transmission slip, and it sounds like it is slipping, the more damage it does and the more expensive it'll be to fix later. You're burning out the low clutch by letting it slip like that.

That's my opinion.

I wouldn't live with that. The problem WILL come back.
