New rotors/pads Raceconcepts

I installed the new front rotors and pads from Raceconcepts last night. I thought you may want to know what I learned.

I used the old pad shims with the new "Metal Master" PRB (PBR?) (per Wood same as AXXIS) pads. It was a tight fit but I got them in.

The rotors are zinc coated.

I proceeded to follow the break-in procedure. Light to moderate braking from 30mph, 10 times, 30 seconds between. Very interesting as the front end felt like warpped rotors until everything seated in. Also I could smell the pad material.

Then I did some harder stops from 60 and checked the brakes. Them pads were smoking. (Smoke follows me everywhere these days.) I was concerned that maybe there wasn't enough room for the shims and the pads were dragging. I drove at 60 and used the hand brake to stop and the pads were fine. So I drove around some more and repeated a few hard stops from 60 and no smoking pads. So it looks like everything just had to wear in a liitle bit.

The zinc coating on the disk is not completely worn off.
