My new Black one with the polished rims

I just buffed it and waxed it. Can't find any dings on it. The rims are polished, but need some real polish. I just used some clearcoat-safe stuff on it, but that didn't do much. Looks pretty decent for what I paid for it.

Caps are painted with Rustoleum Metallic Aluminum and match pretty well.

Good choice of tires too. I've been running them on my Black one for 4 summers now.
I wish mine was in such pristine condition. Only the right front fender has no rust or dings.

Yes, love the Falken$, but only has them in the front. Ventus in the rear.

Re: My new Black one with the polished rims

OK, I got some real polish and gave it a go and now they are too shiny for the caps. I'll have to re-sand the caps and try some chrome paint. I have those little chrome plated center cap covers, but they stick out and one has some chrome bubbling.

umm ..... that's not good. how long have two different brand tires been run? you may be ok, or you may be screwing up your transmission. Subaru's AWD has one of the tightest tolerances regarding tire circumference.

Re: My new Black one with the polished rims

I polished them again and they're starting to look like chrome and not polished. Go figure. But now I can't find my camera. DTOH!

Sadly I'll have to agree with what the porkhaus boy said times 2. Before wasting time polishing I'd be doing some tire swaps (maybe even 4 new if your best tire show much wear at all) to get matching shoes and change the tranny fluid. There is always time for polishing, like when you retire like John! Might also want to make throw a virgin in the burnt tranny fluid to please the tranny gods while your at it

Re: My new Black one with the polished rims

i didn't check to see who made the original post, but with the OP being a member here since 2002, this should be common knowledge.

i got a sidewall tear on a set of Conti's with about 3000 miles on them and bought 4 new ones.

if you can find a shop that shaves tires, buy two same model tires and have them shaved to match two of the ones currently on the vehicle ....
or save that money for a new transmission.
