Unhappy x-mas tree

my car turned into a christmas tree tonight, the entire dash lit up. the car even went so far as to die while i was driving and then randomly start back up a minute later. im gonna check for any codes tomorrow.

Alternator, alternator wiring, or alternator belt. Check the battery too.

the alternator is brand new and the power steering was working the entire time, but i did just have the alternator wiring worked on so that is my best guess. its also been idling very rough and accelerates slowly, my windows also work intermittantly. so i think i have a bad ground somewhere.

1 vote for the alternator... is it a bosch?? that might explain at least part of it...

oh yeah... and i listened to those files you sent me... pretty decent i must say. not what i listen to on a regular basis... but still some quality music

the alternator might be bosch but i know its fine because i can sit in the car with everything on and idle for hours with no problem.

thanks for the compliment on the music, hopfully soon we will have a vocalist and then we can start on our demo.

Mine acted the same when it started to fail. Everything would drop dead and the lights would all come on. I'd slip her in neutral and hit the starter while drifting to the shoulder and she start right back up. Initially it was a good while to the next failure and then they started happening a few times a day before I broke down and replaced it.

You just explained exactly what my car did. Anyone got a MAF sensor they would like to sell me at a decent price?

To be safe keep a volt meter plugged into your lighter and keep an eye on your voltage.

I recently had the tensioner pulley for the alternator belt chew up its bearing and take out my new belt with it. It could also be the voltage regulator in the alternator.

im probably gonna be getting another new alternator, i think the one i got from autozone is an 85 amp. so im gonna go to napa this weekend probably and get one.
