I've got my 4EAT trans apart and I'm about to order some parts to rebuild it. Does anyone have recommendations? I've done the TCU mods to increase cruising line pressure, a shift kit, and a high stall torque converter. I put that into a JDM trans with low miles and the high clutch is shot a year later.

It looks like maybe Alto offers a 1.75" carbonite band, and they have some high energy frictions. What does it take to fit another friction/steel in the high clutch? Some machining I guess, and a different pressure plate.

Anyway, any pointers would be great.

Are you running a VTD transmission? There is a guy who supposedly put another clutch plate in the high clutch pack but doesn't share the info. I would mod the pump for more pressure.

No, it's regular MPT.

Alto offers a special "Red Eagle PowerPack" high clutch with 6 steels/frictions instead of 5. No machining, I'm going to go with that.

To add more frictions to the forward clutch I would need to machine the forward apply piston. I do have a lathe but I don't really want to mess with it as my old frictions looked just fine.

I have a shift kit with some custom holes drilled, so I have a lot more line pressure. The 1-2 shift at WOT is pretty mean! I also upped the sol-A duty cycle in the TCU.

I need to replace my auto trans since it started to slip but I can't perform an upgrade myself. Any one have a member source for purchasing an upgraded performance transmission. I tried to contact Ecutune but web page doesn't respond and haven't received response from PM sent a couple of days ago.

I just read in another thread that ECUtune is out of business. I've heard of Import Performance Trans and Level 10 for performance rebuilds, but I can't vouch for either of them.

Still waiting for the Alto parts, the distributor is dragging their feet... I hope I remember how it all goes back together.

Thanks for the info. I tried the Ecutune web address but couldn't connect and sent a PM to member who ran it but didn't receive a return email. I also heard of Level 10 but thought they were very expensive. I'll check out both of your suggestions (w/o any recommendations on your part). I don't have the know how or tools to attempt myself.

I had a level 10 transmission in mine. It cost more than $6000 after I sent it back 5 times and in all that time it lasted 5000 miles before I started over.

Can you post a pic of the clutch pack with the six discs when you get it?
