FS (AZ): 1992 LSL, satin finish, 170k, 5MT, $2500

1/30 update - $2500

1/24 update - I want to sell this car. I simply don't drive it anymore. Make an offer. It's a good looking, strong running example that will serve you well. A little work on the MT pedal assembly installation and it will be a great 5MT. I'd like to sell this to somebody who will finish what I started and I'm willing to let it go cheap to do that.

Hi everybody. I've been a member here since the beginning and have had my SVX since 1999 and had alot of fun with the car in those years. But, I have a newer, faster car ('06 E85 STi) that I drive daily, and the SVX just doesn't get the attention it deserves anymore. Because of this, I'm selling it.

Location of the SVX: Tempe, AZ

Year: 1992

Model:LS-L

VIN:JF1CX353XNH106905

Manufacture date:11/91

Paint Color: Satin Black (custom painted)

Interior Color: Your choice...gray leather or gray alcantara/vinyl

Miles: 167,000

Location: Tempe (duplicate of 1?)

Options: Loaded

AWD or FWD: AWD

Modifications:
5MT - 2003 WRX transmission rebuilt with STi 1-4 gears. Could use a re-do of the pedal assembly. minor misalignment of the firewall mounting holes for the clutch master cylinder causes the pedal box to twist when you press the clutch, resulting in a 2-3mm left right shift of the assembly. My suggestion for this would be to keep the modified pedal assembly, but re-do everything at the firewall to fit perfectly (re-do and re-install the adapter plate which fills the hole for the AT wiring loom and serves as the master cylinder mounting bracket). As is, it works fine and the displacement isn't very noticeable, but it'd be nice to have a perfectly rigid pedal. The crossmember and driveshaft angle alignment were done by Goodspeed performance of Scottsdale AZ, and they did a fantastic job. No drivetrain vibration, and a beautifully fabricated crossmember.

Satin black finish - repainted by me over a painstaking 3 years of hand sanding to remove the paint without removing the factory rust protection, and to get the body perfectly straight. The paint isn't perfect...there are 2 drips and couple of sags...consequences of me doing it myself, but nothing immediately visible upon a casual inspection. The most noticeable flaws to me are 1) sunroof - needs to be re-painted (very dull, scuffed finish).

The above 2 modifications are where all my time went in. Obviously, doing it myself didn't yield perfect results. However, the above is just 100% honest disclosure. The car is daily driveable and I just drove it 1000mi from AZ to NM and back without any issues.

Magnaflow dual exhaust by Kinetic Concepts...this is like an SVX antique . Sounds great and differs from other magnaflow exhausts you'll see on here in that it uses a y-pipe into 2 magnaflow mufflers.

STi motor and transmission mounts.

Can't remember the brand, but it's got the fancy aluminum radiator which was built specifically for the SVX (not some generic aluminum radiator).

slotted rotors front and rear with rebuilt calipers. I also have an extra set of perfectly good calipers which would be included.

Koni strut inserts with mbtoloczko custom springs for 5MT weight change.

Kenwood aftermarket headunit with AUX in and MP3 CD playback.

Alpine Type R speakers all around hooked to a Phoenix Gold 75x4 amp.

HID headlamps (full conversion. The donor was a BMW 540i, I beleive). This was another time consuming mod I did but I LOVE them! Fortunately cardomain is still around and has the details...http://www.cardomain.com/ride/325450...aru-svx/page-3
Here is the link to the thread on the network...http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21451

Unorthodox Racing underdrive pulley from waaaaay back in the day!

Starter relay installed to avoid the click click click no-start issue.

Major service:
Has a new timing belt, cam seals, spark plugs, motor mounts, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, rebuilt alternator, and radiator hoses. New Walbro fuel pump. Newly installed (but used) steering rack (the old one leaked). New tie rod ends.

Engine Condition:
Good. Runs strong. Gets about 25mpg highway. Not sure city because I don't drive in the city.

Maintenance Records:
Some. I have a giant mess of paperwork including receipts for most parts that have been replaced (various sensors, spark plugs, etc.)

Transmission condition:
Good. No more than 10k miles on the 2003 WRX 5MT with STi 1-4 gears.

Glass condition:
Good. No cracks. Rear window has some minuscule tint scraps on it but easily removed with ammonia glass cleaner, a razor, and a little heat. All the tint covering the defroster is already removed without damage to defroster.

Type of tire and remaining tread:
Yokohama AVID V4S Tires would need to be replaced fairly soon (within 10k miles).

Type of wheels:
18x8 Konig Flight wheels. These wheels are very scratched and could use a re-spray. Perhaps I could be talked into including my 17x8, gold, 2006 STi BBS wheels if desired. They're in great shape.

Interior condition:
Interior overall is 8/10. Interior is currently gray alcantara/vinyl seats. These seats are probably a 7/10 with some minor matting and slightly dirty. I also have a set of the gray leather seats which are probably an 8/10 with the typical wear on driver's outside bolster. You get both. I'll install whichever you prefer.

Body condition:
Body is in very good condition. I spent the time to do the paint prep right, which included filling and sanding every little ding I could see. Paint is good quality, but close inspection reveals the flaws listed above in the "modification" section

Known defects or problems:
Sunroof sticks and must be "bumped" open. Closes fine.

No Key FOB. Power locks work, just no FOB to do so remotely. As such, I have no idea if the security stuff is all working.

CEL is on. The CEL is for the EGR temperature sensor. Researching here on the network, I pinpointed the cause. I am using a '94 FWD ECU in a '92 AWD. The '92 didn't have the EGR temp sensor, so the ECU, obviously, isn't getting that signal which a '94 would. In other words, nothing wrong except the ECU/model year mismatch.

5MT could use a re-do of the pedal assembly. minor misalignment of the firewall mounting holes for the clutch master cylinder causes the pedal box to twist when you press the clutch, resulting in a 2-3mm left right shift of the assembly. My suggestion for this would be to keep the modified pedal assembly, but re-do everything at the firewall to fit perfectly (re-do and re-install the adapter plate which fills the hole for the AT wiring loom and serves as the master cylinder mounting bracket). (Another option would be to fabricate a custom pedal box) The plate that I made is held in by gobs of the steel epoxy stuff as I was unable to weld in the tight confines of the engine bay with the engine installed. It would obviously be better to weld this plate in, although the way it is now, the plate's not going anywhere. Just doesn't look very professional

Occasionally idles high after sustained driving. Seems to be related to use of cruise control. If I don't use cruise, I don't see the issue. I think there may be an electircal glitch in the cruise control switch panel (including fog lights and security button) because on occasion the entire switch panel doesn't work. If I leave the panel alone, I don't ever see the high idle issue. If I use the panel, I almost always see the high idle issue.

Comments about the car:
Runs strong, but deserves attention that I don't have the time to give right now. Ideally whoever bought this would pull the motor and re-do the 5MT firewall work. After that, it would be a pretty flawless 5MT SVX with a unique paint job, nice stereo, and everything else functioning well.

Asking price:
Make an offer. It will include all the spare parts I have including fuel injectors and rails, 4 calipers, extra seat covers, waterfall grille, trunk kit (jack, wheel blocks, etc.), and much more.

Pictures:
Here is a link to some pictures of the paint process so you can see what it looks like now. The wheels are different, and the purple window tint has been removed.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...t=45535&page=2

Here is my old locker for images of other stuff when it was still shiny black. The Konig Flight wheels in these pictures are the wheels currently on it.

Some more images of the paint process. I'll get pics of it without tint and with the silver Konig wheels (current setup).

Matt

Please use this template to list the car so it is the same format so we can see the information about your car. I don't see the VIN either, so we can't car fax it. Thanks

I'll get on those pictures soon. Recently drove the car so the exterior is dirty. I'd like to wash it to better show the paint stuff but haven't had time to do so.

Re: FS (AZ): 1992 LSL, satin finish, 170k, 5MT

finally got it washed and took some pics. I used a polarized filter on the camera to cut the sheen of the satin finish to really show the zebra striping I mentioned. The pictures do a great job of making it look as bad as possible...direct sunlight with the sheen removed. I will say that in most other lighting conditions you can't see it.

Re: FS (AZ): 1992 LSL, satin finish, 170k, 5MT

OK, this is officially going up for sale.

$5k gets it shipped to wherever you are within the continental US. Not taking offers from Germans or Aussies

Feel free to make offers like "I like the car. If you fix the clutch pedal issue first I'll offer you $(fill in the blank)"

Wanted to get everything in tip top shape before posting, but I'm planning a wedding and don't have time to get to it, and my garage is full of stuff anyway, and it's 110 here in PHX right now and the last thing I want to do is go outside and work on a car

She drives great and has served me well for 12 years! Actually had to debate whether I wanted to keep the SVX or the STi considering the value and ease of selling the STi vs. the SVX.

My baby sits unused on the side of the house a majority of the time. I would love to sell it to somebody who will use it. My price has dropped significantly. Make an offer.

Can you provide more information on the gears used and the final drive ratio?

Re: FS (AZ): 1992 LSL, satin finish, 170k, 5MT

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe leaving the 5th gear stock leaves with with the stock WRX final drive, which I think is 3.90... Or it at least ends up that way in the diff.

Re: FS (AZ): 1992 LSL, satin finish, 170k, 5MT

That's correct. The WRX transmission works with the stock SVX final drive. It's got a reduction gear on the output shaft, if I'm not mistaken, which then utilizes the SVX's final drive ratio.
