I need help putting back my idle pulley, can't remember how washer goes in.

After replacing idle pulley(the one for PS pump and Alternator) and shaft I'm having trouble remembering how the washer goes. The washer has a Flat side and a raised side. The washer goes against the pulley and then finally the nut, but I don't remember how the washer goes in!!!! Both the Flat side and the Raised side seem to fit. I don't want to damage anything since they are new parts. Will someone look at their idle pulley and tell me if the Washer that goes against idle pulley is supposed to go flat side against the pulley or raised side against the pulley. Thank you

I always use the flat side on the mounting surface. I can't attest to the factory's way of putting it in.

So I put the flat side against pulley, and the pulley seizes at times. Is it too tight or is that not the way the washer should go?

We're talking about the front side of the pulley?

With a stepped washer like that the flat side goes against the nut, and the smaller side against the pulley.

Thank you for taking the time to clarify the position of the washer.
