Significant Technical Input Registered SVX Classic SVX
Guess what I found?

Still unpacking stuff after moving to the new house. While sorting through SVX stuff destined for the garage I found the original Subarusvx.com CD-ROM that John Rowe had compiled back in 2001

This CD contains:

The first 50,000 posts from the Yahoo SVX Club Message Board (beginning in 1998) which can be found in the SVX Messages Folder. This is a completely searchable database where you can search by keyword, member, etc.

44 Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) relating to the SVX. This is a searchable database in the SVX TSBs Folder.

1,000+ JPG images of the SVX (and SVX-related items). A free utility called "IrfanView" is included for browsing these images.

62 Wallpaper patterns to use as a backdrop for your PC monitor.

5 movie files of the SVX in action.

As I can, I will try to burn copies of this and take a few to Reading. Going through this is like a time machine

Here was the first post by jester_01, founder of the original Yahoo Club, 0n August 27, 1998:

"Well, welcome to my "club" centered around, in my humblest of opinions, the most incredible car in the world. The SVX offers power (230 hp. worth!), luxury, excitement, and incredibly good looks guaranteed to get you noticed on the street (although I sometimes wish that the cops would learn to ignore me a bit more...always have to double check the speed-o when I see a cop on the road).

The car offers many advantages over other sporty cars, such as tons of front leg room (and adequate amounts of rear room for people under 6'0 if the front seats are moved up), a good-sized trunk, decent gas milage, and all-wheel drive in many models. The base model is better equipped than many mid-level cars, and the luxury model has more gizmos in it than most fighter jets. I've also found that insurance on this car is better than most sports cars because of the luxury sports coupe status rather than just sports car.

It's my perfect car, and a pristine, fully loaded '93 cost me less than my base model Civic (less fun, but gotta love that gas mileage).

Well, I'll close this message now, and I'll leave the floor open to other SVX lovers to post their opinions and questions. I am a new owner and look forward to meeting others out there who can enlighten me more about this car, as well as help other new owners/prospective owners.

Enjoy"

...and the 50,000th post was by Olu Davis "svxit" (current moderator of the Yahoo SVX club) on February 8, 2001:

Yeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaa, Baaabeeeeeeeee!!!

Wow, I had forgotten all about that little time capsule!

I have one of those... somewhere.... I imagine my experience will be very similar if I ever get to cleaning up/organizing and uncover it from whatever rock it is under.

Very cool!

OK, when are you going to share, cost to you and profit to the forum? Some of us joined late in the game. Hey, this could go with the shirts and stuff.

Talking

The first 50,000 posts from the Yahoo SVX Club Message Board (beginning in 1998) which can be found in the SVX Messages Folder. This is a completely searchable database where you can search by keyword, member, etc.

Let me interrupt your SVXgasm, John, to announce that I read each & every one of these 50,000 entries (including my own), & despite all of Maria-the-Speed Nut's negatory experiences, I still bought the Beast.

I remember Jester (DC guy). Do you remember Joeaux? He had an SVX website in Florida. We corresponded - me with newbie questions, he with advice.

The rest is history.

Ron (w/box 'o memories).

The historic CD

Patrick,
If you can make a copy, I'd purchase one. Ripping it and storing the resultant files on your PC is not difficult, you just have to have enough storage space on a hard drive for it. (CD = 650 megabytes). P.
ps - I have your headrest ready to send you, I just have to get to the post office. P.

We had a busy little website back in those days. By the fourth month of operation we hit 1,000 posts. In January, 2001, we had 3,271 posts! That's more than 100 per day. And there was no organization of topics. You could be gone for a few days and it would take hours to wade through all the new posts. Then Yahoo decided to try something new.....

Yeah that was a completely different experience. The no organization of topics was bad, but in another way it was kind of cool because you could just read through beginning to end and be involved in everything and know that everyone else was too. Not nearly as productive or organized as this format though.
