Whats the black plastic box bolted under intake?

I started replacing all the vaccum lines today and broke one of the ports off the black plastic box bolted to the bottom side of the intake. What is this thing? does anyone have a part number?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Need more info or a pic.

Is this 'black box' in the fender? If so, then you're talking about the intake resonator. If not, are you talking about something attached to the air filter intake pipe? Are you even referring to the MAF (that's a black box) which sits between the air filter box and intake tube?

I think you are referring to the air control valve, located under the throttle body. See part #2 HERE

What I'm looking at is attached to the under side of the intake manifold. I removed the manifold to replace the brittle vaccum and pvc air lines. There are several solenoids under the intake, but this part has only two vaccum lines attached to it and is located near the middle of the front of the manifold on the bottom side. I think its about 3" wide by 2" deep by 3-1/2" long constructed of black plastic. I'll try to post some pictures tonight

The service manual just refers to it as a Vacuum tank, also a Vc tank, one of the lines has a 1 way valve on it,the other line goes to the induction control solenoid valve. As far as Part #,I do not have that info....sorry

IRIS vacuum tank.

Yes it holds vacuum to work the IRIS butterfly valve. You could glue the pipe back on the tank, with an epoxy glue, pass a drill bit through the pipe, to remove any glue in there.

Harvey.

Thats the part

I repaired it by cutting off the "ears" around the broken nipple and then used a 1/8" NPT tap to cut threads into the plastic. I found a 1/8" hose barb with 1/8" NPT at the hardware store and threaded it in, sealing the threads with silicon sealant. I'll post pictures of this and my replacement of the IRIS control diaphragm (I'm modifying the Vacuum secondary control diaphragm from an old Holley 4bbl carb to fit in place of the IRIS diaphragm) when they are both done.
