Lets put it this way. If you had to buy a new car to replace your SVX , What would it be ? Be honest make it a car that would fit your pocket book

Talking Semi-honest attempt

Okay, here are a few ideas for cheap budgets and various philosophies. I’ve arbitrarily given myself a limit of $10,000 US with max 50,000km or 31,000 miles, that can be registered and driven “as is”
(we can play “name that car” while we’re at it – grin – these are honestly for sale now in Germany)

1
for the political left with small bank accounts, or Luddites who don’t like everything computerised, harkening back to “the good ’ole days”, available now for just under $5,000 USD, 1988 model, 13,000 km, like new!

Hmm… but the idea was to get a new/er car, eh? So here’s another option on the cheap:
2
Still just under $5,000 US, but it’s a 2003 model with only 42,000km, 91 PS

Now for the $5-10k category, let’s see…

They say nice things come in small packages, so
3
Here’s a brand new beauty with 0 miles, 2005 model, 95 PS at just under $10,000 USD

Into something a bit sportier? Here’s a sweet roadster:
4
Just $10,000 and you can drive away in this 2004 model with 98 PS and just 25,200km on the dial. (15,700 miles)

Not enough horsepower for ya? Then we gotta go for something a bit older:
5
This one will set you back a little over $9,000US. It’s a 2002, 37,500km with 188 PS.

Looking for a pop-off hard-top? (err… that white square is my attempt to continue playing “name that car)
6a
This is a 2000 model, with 224 PS and 48,200 km. It’s yours for around $6,250 US. You can see a rear-end view with the top on in my locker.

None of the above have AWD, so if you must have it, here’s my last one:
7
Built in 2000, it has 218 PS and 30,000km. Oh… and AWD. $7,500 US

Can't resist throwing this one in, although it isn't up for sale. Would be perfect for newcomers to Germany who are afraid to drive on the autobahn:

Let me know what you think, and if you want me to "name that car"

I had no idea Trabant made a "GT" version.

Out of those I would take the Mercedes, even though I hate them.
I love roadsters.

I dunno what the heck those other things are.

Answer to Name that Car

Okay folks, here are the names of all the cars. You'll notice if you look closely that each picture has a number on the lower right corner. I won't bother reposting all the pics, but just list them here.

1. Trabant (now sold)
2. Lada
3. Ford Ka
4. Smart Roadster
5. Alfa Romeo (sold)
6. Mercedes SL320 (sold)
7. Mercedes ML320 (sold)
