Nice! Did you get to talk to the owner for a while? What kinda work is he in? Btw, how wide are those rear tires - they look thick!

I talked to him for about half an hour. He just shows the car but he's actually from Florida. He wasn't attending a local show but a friend of his convinced him to come to Winnipeg.
As for the tires, I didn't look at the size. I thought I had a good pic of them where I could make out the size but I guess not.

The Pantera is definitely cool, but that one right there would have to be very, very special (like plated in gold) for the owner to turn down $175k for it. That could buy you three really nice Panteras with enough change left over to ship them.
I wouldn't rule out sentimental value, but I also wouldn't rule out a substantial helping of bull****, either.  Cool car, though. 70s supercar performance with a cheap, reliable engine like that? Awesome.

I believe him on the value. This car is immaculate. He also mentioned it's the race version. I was shocked when he said this one was made in 1990.

I just looked it up and the rear tires are 13" wide Pirelli P7's. The fronts are 10" wide.

The Pantera is nicer then the Mangusta that came before it, but the deTomaso will always be hampered by it's ford motor. It's not very collectible. A Lamborghini or Ferrari has more value to it then any deTomaso will. $175k gets you a 911 Turbo Convertible or a F360. What would you rather have?

I have a friend in Cali who puts California emmisioned Ford 351C in the Pantera's for all of California, he gets the 351C's for free from Ford.
Sweet looking car, drives like a go-cart, and just as comfortable as one. He tried to convince me to put a 351C in my 67 Buick Skylark Conv. I still said no even though the engine was free. (idiot=me) Damn Pantera's stick to the road like glue, very fun, friend make me almost S%$^ my pants on Mulhullen Drive.
