pavan... landshark was poking fun. search for saabaru, or just saab... we had a whole long discussion on that one too... and i believe in that discussion brought up the india forester. but anywho. relax. rebadging and re-using are the only ways brands can survive. like the paddle shift that was supposed to come on the new legacies. thats a GM product. basically, the more "sharing" the better and cheaper overall cars will be.

Subaru isn't selling out, everyone else is subaru is just selling more If subaru was selling out they would be puting their badge on other cars, so a subaru is still a subaru, and so are some saabs and chevys... Hey, if ya can't beat 'em then buy 'em and rebadge 'em

Ya know what's funny about that whole deal was that the Honda had average/above average reliablity ratings by consumer reports while the the Rodeo had a horrible rating. I guess just putting that H on the hood is what makes it reliable as they were built side by side only real difference was the Honda had a nicer interior as the Rodeo was the bargain beater for Isuzu.

This is like watching the entire crew of the Titanic react to the news that their "invincible" ship was sinking. Finally getting your reality check?

You should be thanking god that GM is so eager to use your beloved Subaru's cars. Seeing as you all seem to agree that Subaru's new design direction sucks, combined with the fact that EVERY SINGLE GM MAKE now outperforms Subaru in quality and value (http://www.jdpower.com/news/releases...asp?ID=2005069), it seems to me that Subaru has everything to gain from a partnership with the world's largest automaker. No one knows better how to sell cars (whether you agree with their methods or not) than GM. This is the new automotive era...GM and Toyota now rule the automotive world. Combined they have almost 30% of the world market, plus 15 of the 18 highest quality cars you can buy.

So other than the loss of chances for a low volume, niche type car (like the SVX), tell me what Subaru has to lose by partnering with GM?

the Initial quality study means nothing. a survey of three months worth of ownership? GM cars usually hold together for a year or so before they start rattling apart. GM is "ruling the automotive world" with almost junk bond status i guess.

if GM want to rebadge Subarus and sell them as Chevy's, i have no problem with that. the minute i see a Cobalt rebadged as a Subaru Impreza, i'm jumping ship.

From what I've read, JD Power and Associates are not a very reliable source to base information on

Consumer Reports recently rated Subaru as the most reliable make, based on surveys of people who actually bought and drove new cars.
