Gas odour

I've been getting an odour of gasoline when I step out of my car for the past week. I know I didn't overfill the tank. Any idea what could be a source other than a rusted out gas line? No wet spot on the driveway.

petrol sniffing.

Loose inlet manifold bolts. This has been found to produce the petrol odour, by a few.

Harvey.

When i had bad exhaust gaskets i had a gas smell or en exhaust smell coming through my car. After i got em changed it went away. Maybe that will help but you will hear horrible exhaust noises if their bad. It will sound almost like a lawnmower

I did just have a used set of pre-cat pipes put on a couple of months back and do have a rattle/brrrrr sound at about 1500 rpm. I assumed it was the heat shields. I'll definitely have the bolts & gaskets checked out on the entire exhaust before we drop the gas tank to check the lines.

I was getting the same gas smell about two years ago. I ended up having to replace the lines that come from and go up over the gas tank. What a pain in the BUTT! I did not see gas under the car at first either. Then WHAMO, there it was. The salt on the roads up here in the northeast rotted out the return pipe, and the feed pipe was not far behind. You have to remove the tank to get them out. Which is a BIGGGGG project. I was able to go around the outside of the tank and make it work. I hope this is not your problem. Dave.

Just got back from the garage. The noise was caused by the heat shields, which are now gone.

We couldn't find any signs of gas leakage around the tank or along the lines.

The hose for the crankcase ventilation was unhooked so all that good stuff that's supposed to be re burned was dumping around the engine. Good call Landshark No charcoal filter hooked up at all. The mechanic thought it was more like a coolant smell. Like the greasy smell on the pre 70's cars before PCV valves et. al. I still think it smelled like raw gas. Hopefully that's fixed it and I don't have more than one problem. Will have to wait till tomorrow to take my baby for a run.
