The Family

As far as I am aware I am the oldest member here. The site attracts me because the majority are such NICE people and the influence of the majority comes through loud and clear.

Those who step out of line get jumped on with vigour but also with tact and the results are very effective. There is in the main solid basic sophistication here at all age levels as a result of all members being in tune with a sophisticated piece of machinery. The site is NOT an accident, SVX is the formula.

For sure there is great variety but that adds to the flavour and to date most offerings have remained on average in good taste. As I see it the greater part of the OT stuff is always of interest and often adds a very real and important personal element without which the site could be rather sterile. Some members have opened their hearts to us when in trouble and it is this sort of attitude which makes the group a family as it has been correctly called. Is there another site worthy of such a title ?

To my way of thinking members police themselves in a quite remarkable manner as is illustrated by this very thread and this will continue while the worthy remain vigilant. As long as this continues formal measures in this regard will seldom be required.

A few cents worth from the old fart. *<)

i think Trevor very simply summed up what has been argued to death lately in many long posts.

i was on another car-specific forum before this, and occaisionally situations would arise that members felt threatened the very existance of the site. there was much discussion, argueing, etc. ....... then everything would be back to normal in a day or two.

the core group here is great - i really don't think one jerk is worth causing this much grief over.

svx, svx, svx. now that i've mentioned it MORE than once. the LLOONNGG original post was of interest, even if i didn't read every word (all right, i'm too lazy to do that or put mods on the car).

for me the bottom line is that once in a while someone shows up on posts (not more than once or twice hee, but i've seen it elsewhere) who appear not to be present for any other reason than to aggrivate. best to ignore them.

sometimes one makes a comment that's intended to be be a humorous dig, acceptable.

jerk is good when it's combined with chicken.

...and, once again, Trevor; I thank you for being a father-figure for a youngster like me.

Many good posts here and very good thoughts.

First - SVXdriver_007 / Shane - sorry I have driven you close to HATE through "jealousy"

I have found this site to go through some cycles of ups and downs as far as controversy of members and posts alike. But, (yes, there is a but) it usually comes back to the same old wonderful site we all love and cherish. It is amazing how the wonderful members here keep it alive and bring it back to the same old place for the most part. It is mainly the members here that are responsible for that situation. Many here have not had the privilege of meeting many of the members face to face. Those of us that have, have gained a new appreciation for the membership here.

No. Trevor is the most ancient.

I don't recall you being that old when I met you(edit) to look at your SVX(endedit)

I was acting younger at the time.
Thanks anyway, Chris - Ron.

What Trevor said

I think your post sums up my feeling too Trevor; well said.

As for Ron, don't let him fool you. I overheard him talking to someone at Reading discussing how the pyramids were constructed. One guy argued that UFO's must have built them....

Ron replied, "No, WE used ramps.....

Tut tut Ron
Oh Ancient One
