Trans temp gage install question...
Anybody that has installed themseves, where did you locate your sensor at??? cooler line? port off trans?? (which one). Am installing one soon, and need to know what is best location to install sensor.

The PermaCool filter housing has a port for a temperature sender - I think most people use it (okay, so this means you have to replace the poor excuse for a trans filter that came with our cars

I have some pictures in my locker of the Perma Cool filter install. It is a much better filter anyway and you can put the sending unit in the housing. Good luck.

No, did the first one in about 45 min and the second one in 30 min. Had to put the car up on a ramp though.

Where do you purchase a perma cool?
bought son a trans cooler today to install on his car, looks like you have to take bumper cover off to install it. Scott

I bought my PermaCool filter from Summit Racing - check the web for their site. Showed up in a couple of days.
You should be able to install the trans cooler without removing the bumper cover. Unless you got a very thick cooler, it should fit between the radiator and the a/c condensor. I know this is where several folks have installed theirs. I've also read posts where people have installed theirs in one of the wheel wells. -Bill

I got a PermaCool filter, B&M cooler, and an autometer temperature sensor from summit.
I installed the filter were the OEM one goes (my car never had one) cooler between the radiator and the a/c condensor and i put the temperature sensor in the port in the filter block.

For those who have installed the cooler between the Rad & a/c condenser what kind of tans temps do you run?? I would think the air flow to cooler would be too restricted to help much. Is the bumper cover that hard to remove? Scott

Try removing the front grille instead. That should give you enough room to install the cooler. It is much easier to do that.

so far i get around 155 to 200 F
most of the time is stays under 165 F

Mine usually stays around 165-200 normal driving. On highway w/ lockup it is pretty consistant at being ambient temp + 100 deg. At the dragon this weekend I buried the needle (250 is the highest mark) and I have 2 tranny coolers.

Son just installed cooler on his today (took bumper cover off) hooked it in series with Rad (which is brand new). Now just time for temp gage.
WOW 250 deg!!! with 2 coolers! maybe time for a small on demand cooling fan for those coolers. Do you run synthetic fluid?? Scott
