Help Please!!!

Hi Everyone, I need a little help here.....

First of all...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Second is the problem.....
I was going out to run some errands today and like two minutes from my house I have a flat tire. So I call my daddy
and he comes and puts the stupid looking donut on. By the way, the flat was on the front passenger side just in case anyone cares. So he takes the flat to a mechanic friend of his who basically tells him that my wheel is bent and that I need a new one, however the tire is ok. So my question is where do I go looking for a new wheel, and also how much are they?

Thanks!!!
Mandi

I don't see how the tire just went flat because of a bad wheel, and the tire was ok. Unless you wrecked the wheel driving with the flat tire, but then the tire would really be junk.

Need more info.

I agree with the freak. More info needed. However, if you indeed have to replace the wheel here is a possible source. I have no knowledge of this site but found it doing a quick "Google" search.

If your in the market for some new after market wheels all the way around you can get some good deals on WheelMax.com.
you can get 17-18" rims with tires for aound $800 (some even around $600). Shipping on tire rim deals are free.

I'd call to make sure that the wheels can be ordered with
-50-55mm offset
-correct 5 by 4.5" bolt pattern

Thank God for daddy's

A couple of years ago my wife hit a hole in the SVX and dented the wheel so that it wouldn't hold air, but the tire was okay, so it can happen.

We heated the wheel and hammered it back into shape and it worked just fine until we replaced it. It's in the garage right now waiting to be made into an end table or something.

Seems like it's always the right side wheels that get it.

Keep your eyes open and you'll probably find a replacement right here on the site.

Mandi, Happy New Year to you also!

If you have the money it is a perfect opportunity to get some custom wheels. It's great to find another Lehigh Valley SVXer! I'm in Bethlehem. If you ever need a hand give me a shout. Maintenance is much easier when you can kill two birds with one stone. I'd love to get together and compare notes. What year & color is your SVX? I don't believe I've seen you driving around but then my job is only a mile away on back roads so I am a little sheltered.

Keep in touch neighbor!

Bent wheel

If no one here is willing to part with one for a reasonable price check out www.car-part.com for a used one. Just be sure to call and verify its the right one and the color is right. There were some different colored ones out there. Later ones are lighter. The side is stamped in with an L or R. You should be able to get one for $50 or so. A new one is $490 OUCH!!!

Re: Bent wheel

hey everyone....thanks SOOOO much for all these replies. I really really appreciate it. I checked that carparts.com website and found one for $55 and my dad is checking around some local places to see if they have used ones. I called my insurance company and they said that it IS covered under my collision, however I have to pay the first $250...hence my problem is that i don't have the money to pay for something like that. What can I say...I am a poor college student

cigarjohnny.....yeah i am usually not in the Bethlehem area...but my b/f lives in Nazareth so i am there quite often. My svx is "not a regular svx color" according to Kevin but it is a deep purpley color...anyway, thanks again!!!

Mandi,

Have your dad check with the "Hubcap store" off the 4th street exit of Rt22 in Easton. You might have luck finding a rim there

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

The story...

The night before this happened, she hit a pothole (going about 20mph) that must have been a foot deep. It hit so hard that i hit my head on the ceiling of the car and had a headache for awhile. I inspected the wheel shortly thereafter, and there didn't appear to be any damage. But the hit bent the inside of the rim...not the lip, the actual dish was bent significantly, and was unnoticeabled from the front. The wheel is definetly damaged beyond repair, but she apparently found one at that hubcap store, though i don't know if it is in fact a RH wheel. I hope it is.

Glad to hear you found a wheel there. What kind of price did they rock you for it? It's been years since I've visited that place. We really oughta all get together one of these days for a mimi-meet
