I polished headlights.

Here are the photos.

I started with #400 wet sanding, end up #2000 and used couple types of polishing chemicals to shine the surface.. result is OK, not 100% happy with it, but definitely got better than before! No yellow so far. Strange thing is, when I put headlights back to the car, they didn't look clear as I saw in my room. Losing the shine minute by minute??
I think I still have to polish from inside.

Yes my wheels are still backwards..

They do look better than before.

Maybe if you do it few more times, it will become even better.

Soap

I found that by simply removing them and washing them out with soap (without disassembly) made mine clearer. Gunk build up on the inside. Mine came off a car that sat for 3 years though outside.

Meh, just offering tidbits of what I've experienced

400 grid is way too coarse for plastic. You should have stayed with 1500 and 2000...would have taken longer but come out better. Also what did you polish them with. You need to use an orbital buffer with compound used to polish clear coat finishes...that's how you get the true shine.

Mine were pretty yellowish. I thought it was plastic itself but found out it was just surface. So basically sanding and polishing took good care. I started from #400 wet since the lense surface was scratched up. 500, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 (all wet sanding) and polishing compounds. When you sanding you can actually see yellow stuff coming off from surface. If you be careful not leaving deep scratchs at every step, it will just look like matt finish surface. Then I used Meguiars products. The polish for clear plastic lense wasn't working well, so I used show car glaze 7. I know that's actually for body surface, but I knew it would work for plastic as well. Then there comes clear and shine instantly. It worked great for mine. Result might vary depends on how you do all the steps.. Polishing actually takes a lot of energy. Mine look pretty clear still. Just inside surface need to be polished as well to be perfect, but for now it's OK....

BTW, you probably don't need to remove headlights but it was pretty hot day and I didn't wanna stay outside....

Yeah, more is better. I think the outside surface is good. Just inside...
