Warping T-belt cover and strap fix

Over the weekend I changed the T-belt. When I was putting everything back I noticed that the T-belt cover was rubbing on the back of the crank pulley again. No holes thru the cover yet but some wear marks. This cover has been in for about three years and 100k miles. The cover before this had a hole worn thru it from the crank pulley mostly on the PS side.

Does anybody else have a warping T-belt cover?

I have been working on a strap to keep the cover in place and I am curious if anyone has tried anything like this.

The strap fits behind the PS idler pulley bracket, goes over the T-belt cover and then bolts to the free hole in the bottom of the oil pump.

I'm thinking the trouble is that your crank pulley "wobbles," that is, it isn't turning true. I know when mine started to fail (that is, when I visually noticed something was up), it wasn't off by much but still had started biting into the timing belt cover. Hard to imagine the T-belt cover warping.

My crank pully decided to start moving, but went towards the radiator instead of the T-belt cover. I was lucky and noticed things were awry when the A/C stopped working because the belt slipped off. There was less than 1/4 inch left before the pully would have come in contact with the fans.

Yes the T-belt cover is warping. Believe it or not it's a fact. The crank pulley is relatively new. I replaced the crank pulley a little while ago less then 30k miles when the shieve section started to move toward the radiator.

The T-belt cover has decreased clearance on the PS side of the engine.
